August 29, 2013 Emergency Safety meeting of RSAC Voted to adopt four new task statements on: Hazmat Issues Train Securement Operational Testing for Train Securement Appropriate Train Crew Size Recommendation of working groups on new tasks will be presented by April 2014.

Crossing Safety & Trespass Statistics 2012 Compared to Five-Year Average NOTE: FEWEST CROSSING AND TRESPASSER INCIDENTS, FATALITIES, & INJURIES IN STUDY PERIOD OCCURRED IN 2009

Section 130 Crossing Safety Funding Section 130 was one of few dedicated programs maintained in MAP-21. AASHTO-SCORT needs to continue to advocate for continuing the program in reauthorization. Since 1976 in NC, Section 130 funds have completed an average of 80 projects/year: funded crossing warning system installations and/or upgrades at 2,939 public crossings provided for closure of 144 public crossings Hamberger-Horsley Letter Continued collaboration with AAR, One Rail, ASLRRA, and S4PRC is needed.
