Japan is an island state. It is situated on the Japanese archipelago which consists of islands. Japan is an island state. It is situated on the Japanese archipelago which consists of islands.

The best way of travelling to Japan is by plane. Japan is very far from Saint-Petersburg that is why travelling by plane saves our time. It takes us 19 hours to get to Tokyo, the capital of Japan, by plane.

The official language is Japanese. Students in schools learn English and some people in big cities can speak English.

Sakura is a beautiful symbol of Japan.

Fuji is the highest mountainin Japan. Fuji is the highest mountain in Japan.

Todai-ji Temple is an ancient Buddhist temple. Todai-ji Temple is the largest wooden building in the world. There is a deer park, where deer walk and people can feed them.

A giant bronze statue of Buddha Vairochana is situated there. It is 15 meters high and its weight is 500 tones.

One of the most famous Japanese ceremonies is a tea ceremony. The most important part of the ceremony is to cook and drink thick powdered green tea. Also it is the meditative part of the ceremony.

Kimono is a traditional costume in Japan. Women and men can wear kimono. Nowadays people wear kimono only at special ceremonies. Usually they wear the same clothes as we do.

Chopsticks are traditional Japanese cutlery.
