Beginnings of ESPN ESPN located in Bristol, CT. Bill and his son Scott Rasmussen thought of the idea discussing about how they could only watch sporting events only shown on major television networks. Thus the thought of ESPN began. (did not really come out and say lets make a network called ESPN, they simply thought about making a change.) ESPN – Cable Networks first all Sports programming. Bill Rasmussen an unemployed sports announcer had an idea, it was good old New England ingenuity. The very first broadcast aired September 7, :00 p.m. Bill started this by renting satellite time with a credit card. ESPN was formed in 1978 to broadcast sporting events to cable television via satellite.

Why is this invention important ? This invention was important because it made many sports fans happy, by making more sporting events available for viewing for longer. Before the cable program, you could only watch certain sports at limited times. It kept sports up to date on lots of different sporting events. The Sports Center news program was very popular in that it discussed the previous days games. ESPN is now one of the most popular sporting networks around. Marketers started to purchase lots of advertising on this channel to reach the male viewers to sell their products to. images espn sports

What impact does it have today??? Because of ESPN we can watch many different games. Get scores for all different sports all the time and Watch games that were played along time ago but were so good they just have to show them again. ESPN made things better for sports fans, but some people werent happy that there are now sports 24/7. images espn sports

Why is this important for people today ? Sports for some people is a priority, imagine if that was taken away. Now people (sports fans) are up to date on everything that goes on sports wise. Plus, besides all that, ESPN is FUN to watch! and makes people happy! Its important because people are busy and now with a sports network they can watch sports whenever they have free time. images espn sports

What? You want my thoughts? Well, I think this invention is pretty cool. I sort of like watching sports with my family or sitting on couch watching playoffs and super bowls with some chips. In case you were wondering, YES my family are sports fanatics! Our schedule is softball, cheerleading, and basketball twenty four seven! images – espn sports cheerleading

DADS WOULD BE SAD! Just think about it, what would our dads be like today with out any sports? Answer: utterly miserable!!!!!!! images sad dad
