Veterans and PTSD Military veterans that have come back from battle are the most common subjects of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. The National Vietnam Veterans Readjustment Study (NVVRS) tracks the healing process of Vietnam veterans with PTSD. A survey conducted by the NVVRS in the mid 1980’s showed 15.2% of male Vietnam veterans experienced PTSD, and 30% of heavy combat soldiers show signs as well. The average of the two numbers tells us that approximately 22% of war veterans suffer from Posttraumatic Stress Disorder.
