1 From our story try to know our subject ?
Maria was only 15 when she was attacked by 6 men on the way home from school. They took her, remove all her clothes off let scream and then each one of them raped her while videoing . Finally, they tried to stab her to death and would almost certainly have succeeded but the police arrived after one of them was a fried of killing the victim . For months after this horrifying event, Maria was not herself. She was unable to keep the memories of the attack out of her mind. At night she would have terrible dreams of rape, and would wake up screaming. She had difficulty walking back from school because the route took her past the site of the attack, so she would have to go the long way home. She felt as though her emotions were numbed, and as though she had no real future. At home she was anxious, tense, and easily startled. She felt “dirty” and somehow shamed by the event, and she resolved not to tell close friends about the event, in case they too rejected her.

They aren't sure why some people get PTSD. As with most mental health problems, PTSD is probably caused by a complex mix of: Stressful experiences, including the amount and severity of trauma they've gone through in their lives Inherited mental health risks, such as a family history of anxiety and depression Inherited features of personality The way the brain regulates the chemicals and hormones in the body releases in response to stress

6 Etiology : So there is no specific reason or cause .. That’s why some people have the same experience but the do not develop PTSD

7 Symptoms : Post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms may start within one month of a traumatic event, but sometimes symptoms may not appear until years after the event. These symptoms cause significant problems in social or work situations and in relationships. They divided into 4 types : 1- Intrusive memories: Recurrent, unwanted distressing memories of the traumatic event Flashback Nightmares Severe emotional distress or physical reactions to something that related to the trauma .

13 Differential diagnosis
3- adjustment disorder : stressor is not life threatening no dissociative features or flashbacks 4- head injury 5- substance abuse ( withdrawal , intoxication )
