Welcome back to the middle school, to 6 th grade, and BEST of all...to math & science! It’s going to be a great year and I’m looking forward to getting to know each of you. I challenge you to work hard at being your best, to always feel free to ask questions, take educational chances, and to enjoy becoming a successful 6 th grader! What will we learn in MATH this year? What will we learn in MATH this year? The 6 th grade math curriculum emphasizes problem solving and covers a wide range of topics: integers, number theory, equation solving, rational numbers (fractions), ratios, proportions, percents, statistics, geometry, and probability. We’ll explore math through daily practice, technology, activities, songs, literature, and projects. Expect to work hard, have fun, and be successful! What will we learn in SCIENCE this year? What will we learn in SCIENCE this year? The 6 th grade science curriculum is based on Physical Science. We will cover topics such as characteristics of waves, sound, light, states of matter, forces & motion, energy, technology, and measurement. Everyday Supplies! Everyday Supplies! Work will be assigned on a regular basis...practice, practice, practice. You’ll be expected to keep notes from class. Your notes will prove to be a helpful tool with homework. Quizzes, projects, and tests will vary by chapter and will be announced in class. Science grades will be based on assessments, daily work, and labs. Assignments and class announcements should be recorded in your assignment notebook daily. Current grades can be viewed online via SchoolView. If your homework is not completed the day it’s due, the expectation is that you will stay after school that day to complete it. You must have all assignments for the current chapter completed prior to taking the chapter test. Absent? Absent? You will have two school days to make up work for each day absent. It is your responsibility to get make-up work and schedule a time to meet with me before or after school for extra help. If work is not turned in within two days, it is considered late and we’ll follow the late work policy. Contact Information Contact Information I am here to help!
