Larry L. Haight, Director of Library Services Redding, CA WMS: The Whole Enchilada

Promise of Cloud-Based Technology Save money Reduce IT workload

How WMS Saves Money One-time implementation fees are less than the cost of purchasing proprietary ILS software Save the money you would spend buying or replacing an ILS server every 7 or 8 years WorldCat Local advanced search options replace outside discovery services for federated searches (a service we wanted but couldnt afford) Knowledge base replaces your link resolver License manager provides for e-resource management

How WMS Reduces IT Load No daily backups to run No system upgrades to install No hardware/server maintenance All IT has to do is maintain network Internet access with an acceptable bandwidth If your library does not have satisfactory IT support, WMS is a solution to your problem

The Front-End Experience of WMSWorldCat Local WorldCat Local Our New OPAC WorldCat Local The Library Users Experience

WorldCat LocalOur New OPAC Simple Google-like search or advanced search Search local holdings or all of WorldCat Federated search through the advanced search Concerning our former OPAC, one faculty member said, Good riddance.

WorldCat Local The Library Users Experience Google-like searching Display of book covers Excerpts Book reviews and buy now options Create lists and citation options Federated search/discovery service as part of advanced search View now links to e-resources

The Back-Office Experience of WMS Acquisitions Cataloging Circulation License/E-Resource Management

Acquisitions and Cataloging Still adjusting to the change Beginning to experience efficiencies Workflow has not changed significantly yet but changes are likely to occur Missing some of the bells and whistles but expect them to be added as the product develops OCLC receiving and responding to our suggestions for product development

Circulation Easy to learn and navigate Course reserves, Phase II, implemented May 15th OCLC receiving and responding to our suggestions for product development

License/E-Resource Management SU Library was part of the beta test earlier this spring Easy to implement and use View Now links managed through the Knowledge Base

WMS is the Whole Enchilada! Saves money Reduces IT load/dependence Offers comprehensive library services
