Tropical Rain Forest Lake

Lakes A lake is a large body of water surrounded by land. Lakes can consist of either fresh water or salt water. Lakes appear all around the world with fresh water lakes reaching temperatures of about 39.2 degrees Fahrenheit at sea level and lowering as you go further down. Click for physical features of lakes

Physical Features of Lakes Lakes are normally located in mountainous areas or higher altitudes, rift zones or areas of past/ongoing glaciations. Lakes usually consist of silt, sand, other larger rocks, and organic material Click here for lake plants and animals

Lake wild life Plant LifeAnimal Life Back to the beginning

Plant Life Lakes contain aquatic plants such as lily pads that either rest at the top of the lake near or at the surface or the bottom. These plants are vital to the ecosystem because they are the producers in this environment. Aquatic plants have to be large enough to support themselves and gather enough light while small enough not to stop fish and other animals from being able to swim. Back to Lake Wild Life

Lake Animal Life Lake animals consist of reptiles, mammals, birds, fish and amphibians. Depending on the size and location of the lake many different types of fish can occupy a lake. Some common fish include the Bitterling, Carp, and Cat Fish. Reptiles living in and around lakes include alligators, turtles and snakes. Some mammals that live around lakes are the beaver and platypus. Many different types of frogs can be found in lakes including the Bullfrog, and the Bell Frog. Birds living in lakes consist of ducks, Plicans, Grebe, and Swan. Back to Lake Wild Life

Tropical Rain Forest Tropical Rain Forests are located near or on the equator. Most rainforests can be found on Latin America with others scattered across Africa and Asia. Click here for physical features of a tropical rain forest

Physical Features Tropical Rain Forests consist of an area of often precipitation and dense vegetation. A tropical rain forest has large trees and plants closer to the top of the tree line then the bottom. More plants are located further up because it brings them closer to the sun. There is a lot of competition for plants within the forest because of how close they all are. Rain forests have some of the most unfertile soil in the whole world. The temperature in a tropical rain forest rarely rises higher than 93 degrees For drops below 63 degrees F A tropical rain forest can receive up to 82 inches a year of rainfall. Click here for plant and animal life.

Plants and Animals of the tropical Rain Forest Plants Tropical rain forests consist of tall trees with lots of leaves. This is so they can take in the most sunlight possible. Other plants have vines running up trees to the top of the tree line and spreading out amongst and on top of the trees leaves in order to get sunlight. This relationship affects the tree negatively because it prohibits the tree from carrying out photosynthesis due to a lack of light Animals Animals of the tropical rain forest consist of many different types of birds. Birds thrive in the rain forest because of the amount of food and trees to eat and live in. Other animals consist of large snakes and primates. Rain forests house the largest number of different insect species in the world. Return to the beginning
