Tuba Return to Main Menu It is in the brass family. You buzz your lips to make a sound. It was invented by Willhelm Friedrich Wieprecht and Johann Gottfried Moritz in It has three valves.

Clarinet Return to Main Menu It is in the woodwind family. You use a reed to play it. It was invented by Johann Christoph Denner in the 18th century. The clarinet family include Eb clarinet Bb clarinet alto clarinet the bass clarinet contrabass clarinet.

Snare Drum Return to Main Menu It is in the percussion family It is a non-pitched instrument. It is played by striking it with a wooden drumstick. It originated in Europe back in the 15th century.

Trombone Return to Main Menu It is in the brass family. You buzz your lips to make a sound. It uses a slide to change the pitch. The trombone is played with the bell on the left side of the slide. If the instrument becomes bent it is no longer able to play.

Pian o Return to Main Menu It originated in the 3rd century. It has qualities of both a string instrument and a percussion instrument. When the keys are pressed they cause a hammer to strike (like a percussion instrument) a string inside the piano. The sounds and notes that the piano makes comes from the vibration of these strings (like a string instrument).

Flute Return to Main Menu It is in the woodwind family. You blow air over the month piece to make a sound. There are different sizes within the flute family Piccolo Alto Tenor Bass Contrabass It has a range of approximately 3 octaves.

Saxophone Return to Main Menu It is in the woodwind family. It is typically constructed of brass. You use a reed to play it. Sax first introduced the saxophone in the early 1840s.
