 Successfully conducted March 9-12 at GSFC  Major findings  Highly optimistic schedule which was not closing at the time of CDR  Resolved with new LRD of June 2014  SI flight deliveries not impacted by new LRD  Observatory thermal issues  NGAS/GSFC has chosen a set of minimally invasive options which result in radiator thermal performance margins above 50%  Options to further reduce IEC backloading are still being explored  Identify responsible person for each critical test  Ongoing, accomplished as part of test planning  A total of 94 RFAs issued  As of today:  52 responses submitted to the originator  Of those, 29 have been closed ISIM CDR

REV-H As of 05/14/09 DRAFT Rev H 05/14/09 DRAFT

Status and Recent Progress - ASICs  Second flight run of ASICs is in process  Teledyne is making excellent progress finalizing the production details, and is working to a schedule that supports deliveries to flight instrument teams beginning this November  Pathfinder units begin assembly this week  First flight article builds beginning in July  Have determined that the minimum common mode voltage requirement needs to be increased  Instrument teams notified, design modifications are in process

Status and Recent Progress – NIRSpec Detectors 8 Mpix HgCdTe Focal Plane Assembly  Pathfinder Detector System testing is progressing well  Delivery to ESA scheduled for mid-July  Flight Detector System is awaiting delivery of flight ASICs  Scheduled for mid-November, supporting a Flight DS delivery of February 2010  Evaluating options for ASIC common mode voltage requirement change  Plan to implement on the flight FPE prior to flight ASIC delivery  Have two high quality spare SCA candidates in-hand  Selection agreement with ESA pending Focal Plane Assembly (FPA)

Status and Recent Progress - Microshutters  Flight Microshutter System integration is in progress and on track for September delivery to ESA  Selected flight arrays  MCE boards in testing  Final magnet motor deliveries from CDA imminent  Final shock requirements agreed to with Mission Systems  Plans envelope cryo and launch environments  Qualification testing at Astrium to begin next week Microshutter Array

Status and Recent Progress – ISIM Harness Radiator  Critical Design Review scheduled for June 15 at GSFC  Had been postponed due to interface loads issues, which have been resolved  Incorporation of a spherical bearing assembly reduced loads and simplified integration with the backplane  Most drawings complete and out for quote  Working toward December delivery

Status and Recent Progress – Harness  Have shipped over 150 harness assemblies in support of  Instrument ETU and flight builds  EGSE (SITS, etc…)  ISIM integration and test preparations  Held a successful NIRSpec Detector Harness Manufacturing Readiness Review on May 5, 2009  Tayco has improved the application and control of the potting where the cable meets the backshell

Status and Recent Progress – ICDH and IRSU ICDH  ICDH ETU I&T scheduled to complete in June  Support of instrument thread testing and FSW development will continue  Helping out GLORY…  Failure of their flight spacecraft computer boards has jeopardized the January 2010 launch date  JWST flight assets will be utilized, and can be implemented in time to preserve GLORY’s schedule  Resultant 3 month impact to ISIM ICDH can be absorbed  IRSU Protoflight boards build in process  Box level I&T to begin in September IRSU

 Flight Software  Build IC11 testing to begin next month  NIRSpec MSS FSW  Began development of MSS C4.1 (final build)  NIRSpec DS FSW has transitioned into “maintenance” mode Status and Recent Progress – ISIM Software and ITSS  ITSS  Focus is now shifting to:  Build and test of the Certification Lab at GSFC for ISIM I&T  Build and test of ISIM Electrical Simulators for testbeds at Northrop Grumman  Continuing to support systems in the field in maintenance mode  Continuing to support instrument interface testing

Status and Recent Progress – ISIM Electronics Compartment Integration of the prototype baffle test unit completed and the first unit is being tested. The first cure cycle of the IEC shell is complete. Co-cure inserts and final fiberglass layer fabrication begins in the first week of May. Inserts ready for installation

Status and Recent Progress – ISIM Structure Nearly Complete H J KLM N (GE ) E F G AB C Assy Sequence Left to Right, Top to Bottom  Flight Structure delivery on schedule for July!

Status and Recent Progress – ISIM Structure Deck M

 LOTS of work on test data sets in support of ISIM cryo performance testing  Extensive analysis efforts in support of test budgets, wavefront sensing, calibrations, stray light, etc…  Cryogenic metrology equipment/plans nearly complete (photogrammetry, laser radar, MATF, IATF, scale bars, etc…)  Optics Summit scheduled for June at the ECO  Agenda/Objectives:  Update on ISIM optical alignment and verification plan, flows, and test error budgets not previously covered  Follow-up on actions from IOTA in 2008 and ISIM CDR Status and Recent Progress – ISIM Optics Cryogenic metrology hardware

Status and Recent Progress – OSIM 15  Ball components are completing assembly and most Goddard components are in fabrication  Primary mirror scheduled for shipment next week  Ball deliveries on target for end of June  OSIM integration at GSFC will begin in July Pupil Select Mechanism wheelAlignment Diagnostics Module
