Create a balanced literacy program by providing students the opportunity to explore a variety of literary selections in a variety of reading formats; Teach innovative lessons that instill the basics of effective writing; Design projects that challenge students to use 21 st century technology to enhance their learning and further their understanding of concepts studied; Review curriculum annually to ensure students needs are being met from year to year.

The classroom should be a place where students feel comfortable taking educational risks. The classroom should be a place where learners are exposed to great pieces of literature that whisk them away to magical places. The classroom should be a place where students take pride in their work. The classroom should be a place where students learn valuable lessons from their peers. The classroom should be a place where the teacher makes this happen.

What kind of classroom activities elicit a positive response from your students? Can you describe a memorable teaching moment? What advice do you give to young people entering the teaching profession?
