The Driver 106A

Synopsis A ‘typical driver’ within a criminal organisation is keeping on the down low after having a close encounter with the police on his previous job (picking up a hidden drug package). However, not until after collecting the package does he realise he was being watched by the police and was given a replacement package, containing a police document. The driver, Franco, spends weeks hiding not only from the police but also from the powerful leader of the successful gang, with which he is involved. Franco’s fate is discovered when he loses an aggressive confrontation against opposing gang members after his life was put in jeopardy by his boss.

Influences Our film was influenced by many crime thrillers. Our film involves elements which are traditional to the hybrid genre (crime thriller) like car chases. The whole film is based around a mcguffin which is unknown. Examples of films we looked at - Die Hard - The Transporter - Reservoir Dogs - Drive - Skyfall - Bullitt - Bourne Legacy - Usual suspects

Equilibrium- Day to day life working for a criminal organisation Three Act Treatment New Equilibrium Criminals are unable to complete anymore tasks... Disequilibrium - Loses the package - Almost gets caught by the police. - Mafia find out he lost package & start chasing him

Mise en scene - OTS LocationsPropsCostume Main Area: Brighton - Generic Steet - around marina? - Cáfe / Pub- Yacht club? - Possibly Suburbs - Car - driver’s - Box / Package - mcguffin - Table- to accommodate changing of package - Keys -People in the background/ not empty to show undercover Police OfficerWhite Shirt + Black Trousers with Black Shoes (classic officer outfit)Driver - Jeans + Jacket + Black Shoes + White T-Shirt (casual clothes, trying to blend into background/ undercover)Gang characters (no in OTS) - Normal clothes (t-shirt, jeans, trainers etc) MI5 (not in OTS) Uniform

Unusual / interesting points about the film Our film is based around a mcguffin (the package) which makes the audience able to use their imagination and become involved with the film. This element will make the film exciting and engaging and the fast moving storyline (involving classic crime thriller iconography/ conventions.) keeps the audience ‘on the edge of their seat’).

Marketing How we will promote the film to our target audience (15+) We hope that by advertising in the following ways we will be able to show the film to people that are of an appropriate age and may already express an interest in the genre (the type of people that buy the magazines which include film reviews or follow film accounts on social networking etc and it’s a cheap way of advertising to people that are interested and not wasting time and money on people that won’t care. TechniqueSocial media - Twitter - Facebook - Instagram - Youtube Youtube advertMagazine adverts Information Social media is an interactive way to advertise as it gives an all round view of the film for example; trailers, information, pictures, reviews, rate and comments etc. can be shared. An advert which plays at the beginning of other videos of a similar nature (eg. other thriller adverts.) Write ups and pictures published in magazines will get the film known. Not as good as good as social media as is not interactive People/ Audience Advertising in this way allows people of all ages to not only find out about the film but also share it with others. The advantage of using this technique to advertise is that people that might be interested in the genre (looking at other thriller adverts) will see the advert. Will get a large range of different people (depending on what magazines it is published into).
