 the more “random” the better.. o everyone should have a chance of being selected.. o BUT, what happened with Literary Digest’s sample in 1936?  1,000 to 1,500 usually enough  What is “Stratified Sampling?” – divide pop into regions using Census; then randomly select subgroups to poll in proportion to national population  Samples are not perfect – there is a sampling error of about 4% in a typical poll
