What is art The four types of art

What is art ????? This question has many possibilities Art can be made by man or machine Art can be painting, sculpture, jewelry, clothing, designing, architecture, music, dance, acting, drawing, etc. What's up with that? Why is it so hard to define art? Since its so hard to define…lets make it easy….It can be easily split up into four types of art

Why art is so hard to define? Art has had many purposes over its lifetime Philosophical, educational, functional and entertainment purposes Lets look and see where art has been and where it is going?

Education art: it communicates an idea..tells a story This type of art is made to talk about an event. Meant to teach you something Example: paintings were used in medieval times to visually tell stories of the bible to people who could not read

Functional art: you can use it Functional art is anything that has a purpose. Artist had or has a reason to make it Art is made to use Could be clothes, signs, advertisements, buildings, cars, items we use or furniture

Philosophical art (a.k.a…modern art) Art has meaning Tells a story, sparks emotions, makes comments about society At first glance its hard to see what the subject is Viewer becomes really important because he or she brings your own experiences to the picture. No ones opinion could be wrong with modern art. What you see is what the art is about.

Art for Entertainment Art is made for the pure enjoyment of making it. Has no story or idea Cartoons, movies, music, cd or dvd covers,
