WEATHER OR NOT! Sun, fog, frost, or rain. The weather is always around us. CREATED BY: ANGELICIA CLAYTON

WHAT IS WEATHER ? WHAT IS CLIMATE? Weather is the day-to- day conditions of a particular place. For example: It was raining today at school. Yesterday it was sunny at home. Climate is often spoken about at the same time as weather, but it is something quite different. The climate is the common, average weather conditions at a particular place over a long period of time (for example, more than 30 years). We learn about different climates around the world. Deserts have a hot and dry climate while the Antarctic has a very cold and dry climate.

THE RECIPE FOR WEATHER YUM!YUM

TO KNOW OR NOT KNOW! Weather has a great impact on our everyday lives. It determines what clothes we wear, the activities we engage in outside, and what plants we grow.

WHAT’S THE WEATHER LIKE TODAY? 68/61

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO KNOW THE WHAT THE WEATHER WILL BE EACH DAY? The weather affect our lives as we prepare for work and school, plan activities and events, or even decide where to go on vacation. Weather not only impacts us as individuals, but also as a community, a state, and a nation. The effects of the weather can also have a major impact on the Earth.

WHAT ARE SEASONS AND CAUSES THEM? Unless you live near the Earth's equator, you have no doubt noticed that the weather changes during the year: it is hotter during the Summer, colder in Winter, and somewhere in between during Spring and Fall. These are the seasons, a regular change in temperature, that repeat themselves every year, more or less regularly. What causes these changes? The Sun is our main source of heat, and since these changes are the same every year, it surely has something to do with the movement of the Earth around the Sun.

WHAT IS A METEOROLOGIST? A meteorologist are scientists who tell people about the weather. It is important to know if it is rainy or sunny.

TOOLS OF THE TRADE

WEATHERING IT UP! A thermometer is a tool that measures temperature. A wind vane shows the direction the wind is coming from. A barometer measures air pressure. A rain gauge is the tool that measures precipitation. A wind vane shows the direction the wind is coming from.

WHAT’S A WEATHER MAP? A weather map is a tool used to display information quickly showing the analysis of various meteorological quantities at various levels of the atmosphere. Maps using isotherms show temperature gradients, which can help locate weather fronts.... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weather_map en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weather_map LET’S MAP IT UP! snational/uscurrentwindsgusts_large.html
