Presentation transcript:

 Choose one of the following family situations to develop a story of a family case study. Once you choose a situation, you will use and reuse it throughout the next week to develop a story about your family.

 He is a high school senior with plans to attend college in another state  She is a high school junior with very protective parents  Each is trying to clarify values related to becoming sexually active should the opportunity arise

 She is a college student  He has just passed the bar exam and has a time-consuming job in a local law firm  He would like to have a baby soon after he marries  She would like to work several years before she begins a family

 He is a single parent father but would like to find a new partner  His ex-wife is not interested in the child and rarely keeps her appointments to visit or take her daughter on outings  However, she is very jealous when she hears that he has been out on a date

 She is a professional who works lots of hours on her job  She does not drink or some and hates the bar scene for meeting possible partners  She has been ing a man she met on the internet for 6 months and is curious about meeting him

 She is a sixty-something widow who lives on social security and a small pension  He is a late sixties retired widower  Both have grown children who do not support new relationships for their parents

 Newlyweds who met and married within a month  Both are employed but in different cities  Parents on both sides generally approve but refuse to take sides or provide any financial support

 He is a newly naturalized citizens from Pakistan  He is widower with one daughter  She is divorced mother of four  She is a housewife  He is a computer specialist

 Both had previous partners  Only one has “come out” to parents and coworkers  Both are employed but one is professional and other works in sales at a department store

 For today, give the characters in your scenario a name and write a paragraph filling in the details their lives.  This should be approximately 1 page in length.  Next week, you will continue filling in the details of the stories as is appropriate for your given scenario.  You will be direct to seek resources that might assist your characters.  Whenever possible, incorporate content from the textbook.  Stick with the same basic scenario throughout all parts of the assignment.

 Since you have already created and described your characters, today you will explain how they met.  What was their courtship experience?  If they are to be or have been married, plan the details of their wedding  Make a case for why you chose to have a large or small wedding  Create a budget and a timeline for the wedding  What pitfalls might you expect to encounter?  If they are not to be married, indicate what direction their relationship will take.  Is there content to support your storyline?  This portion should be 2-3 pages!

 Explain the family personality and manage styles.  Also explain what issues they confront about parenting, employment and communication. Make the issues appropriate for your scenario and the circumstances you have given your characters.  Do they confront issues about divorce and/or remarriage?  For this portion of the assignment, 1-2 pages are expected.

 Draw your story to a conclusion.  To consider the possibilities and resolve their issues in some way.  Make the issues appropriate for your scenario and the circumstances you have given your characters.  Supply any additional details that are needed for the completeness of your story.  What content in the textbook supports your storyline?  Is there an Internet site that might provide supplemental information? Make complete citations for all reference materials.  This portion of the assignment should about 1 page in length
