The Egyptians lived near the river Nile, were it was very fertile and good for farming. They hunted for birds and animals that lived near swamps.

In Egyptian times men were more important than women. Girls got married at the age of eleven.

The Karnak temple is really three main temple buildings. It took a 13 year period for building and enlarging.

Houses in Ancient Egypt were made from bricks and mud from the river Nile. Straw and pebbles were added to the mud to make it stronger. The inside of a Egyptian house was often decorated in patterns and scenes from nature

The pyramids and temples in Ancient Egypt took many years to build. In order to provide a place for the builders to live, towns and villages grew up near building sites. Here is a map of the Egyptian world

As Egypt is a hot, dry country Egyptians didn’t need many layers of clothing. Often Children wore no clothes at all. Men wore kilts at that time.

Ancient Egyptians worshiped many different gods and goddesses. The most important god was Osiris, the god of the dead. His wife Isis and their son Horus were also important. The gods were worshipped in temples, however ordinary people were not allowed inside the temples.
