Operation Walk is a nonprofit medical service organization founded in 1994 by world-renowned orthopedic surgeon, Lawrence D. Dorr, in Los Angeles, CA. Operation Walk Denver was started in 2003 after Dr. Douglas Dennis, also an internationally known orthopedic surgeon, traveled with Dr. Dorr to Nicaragua and was inspired to create an Operation Walk chapter in Denver. Who We Are Dr. Doug Dennis, M.D., Executive Director Jackie Gorman, Operating Room Coordinator

Dr. Todd Miner, M.D., Clinical Director We provide free surgical treatments for patients in developing countries and the U.S. who have little or no access to life-improving care for arthritis or other debilitating bone and joint conditions. Operation Walk educates in-country orthopedic surgeons, nurses, physical therapists and other healthcare professionals on the most advanced treatments and surgical techniques for diseases of the hip and knee joints.

 Imagine being confined to a wheelchair or a lifetime of crutches and suddenly being able to walk again.  Operation Walk Denver gives patients this life-changing ability.  We give our patients the physical means to rebuild their lives.  These surgeries changes the lives of our patients, their family, and their communities.

Two Mission Trips Each Year April 2014 – Honduras November 2014 – Panama The patients on our missions all suffer from advanced arthritis and other degenerative joint diseases. Our dedicated Denver team brings a wide-range knowledge & experience to help impoverished disabled patients walk again. Dr. Doug Dennis, M.D., Executive Director

 21 missions in 9 countries  Performed nearly 1200 joint replacements  Become better healthcare givers  Educated local healthcare givers Our Accomplishments

“The real essence of Operation Walk cannot be conveyed on paper. It is a personal mission that is embedded in the hearts and souls of each team member. Having the opportunity to use the gifts and/or talents that God has given us to help another person is the ultimate sign of love and loyalty towards Him.” James Boyle, Medical Coordinator

Local surgeons, doctors and nurses take x-rays and evaluate potential surgical candidates prior to the trip. About 8,000 pounds of supplies, such as prosthetics, surgical equipment, medications, bandages, and crutches, must be shipped. Once in host country, team leaders set up four complete surgical teams including local medical staff. An average of 60 joint replacements are completed in less than a week.

Dr. Douglas A. Dennis, Executive Director “If all of my patients, friends, and other people in America could just see how sad it is for many of the people in these developing countries, I think they would get much more excited about Operation Walk Denver. They live under terrible conditions, with severe pain, and they have not walked normally without pain, often for periods of 15 or 20 years. If they lived in America, they would have had their total knee or hip replacement performed decades before, and are therefore so grateful for the care we give.”

Operation Walk Denver team consists of up to 60 healthcare volunteers with a passion for helping people who are in desperate need of orthopedic care. Our Need Although most supplies are donated and team members are all volunteer every other other aspect of these mission trips is only possible through generous donations. On average, a typical trip to South or Central America costs $150,000. Contributions go directly to providing life-changing surgeries.

Ed Ammon, Executive Director Porter Hospital Foundation The Foundation requests your consideration of a $10,500 gift, over three years, to build an endowment for Operation Walk Denver to support its mission for future medical trips to developing countries. Please Join Us In Making a Difference

Thank you
