 Module 1 : Listening  Module 2 : Performing I  Module 3 : Creating I The three compulsory modules are designed to develop students’ creativity, critical response and musical competence.

 Module 4 : Special Project  Module 5 : Performing II  Module 6 : Creating II The three elective modules allow students to specialize in an area in which they have particular interest and strengths.

 Develop critical listening skills, and understand how musical elements are used in compositional devices.  Identify and respond critically to the music genres and styles of different cultures and periods, and express understanding and personal views on the music.  Analyze the artistic qualities of diverse music genres and styles in relation to their historical and cultural contexts.

 Perform music accurately and fluently with appropriate control over technique and expression.  Perform different types of music using appropriate styles to demonstrate the ability to interpret music and the development of aesthetic sensitivity.  Discuss, explain and defend a personal interpretation of the music being performed.

 Create and develop music ideas employing appropriate compositional devices.  Arrange existing music to demonstrate creativity and musical understanding of the original piece.  Discuss and explain the use of music elements in compositional devices of their compositions.

 Listen to and study musical works from the following periods and genres: music in the Western classical tradition from the Baroque period to the 20th Century, Chinese instrumental music, Cantonese operatic music, and local and Western popular music.  Describe and discuss music in relation to its historical and cultural contexts.  Create music compositions of different styles which display a structural design.  Arrange musical pieces  Perform musical pieces individually and in ensemble setting.
