Simply,” what a work involves and what are the things that one can do to work better”. Or Ergonomics is the science that focuses on equipment design at workplaces with a view to reduce fatigue and discomfort in workers by improving working conditions 2 factors- Physical Environmental

 In case of any working condition(office work culture) relationship between the employees and the work place. Ergonomics has a prime objective is to provide and maintain a healthy “user friendly” environment. Properly applied, And ergonomic principles support each person's desire to find zone of individual’s comfort and care.

Objectives of Ergonomic  Provide basic training regarding the identification, evaluation, and control of ergonomic exposures and hazards.  This will include:  The role of ergonomics  Ergonomics-related injuries and their causes  Proper workstation arrangement  Controlling ergonomic hazards

 Repetitive strain injury (R.S.I.)  Work Related Upper Limb Disorder(W.R.U.L.D)  Musculoskeletal Disorder (MSD)  Fatigue  Migraine headaches and eye strain

 Most of the back injuries in today’s society are because of use of computers.  1998 data shows that RSI increased by 22% in just 2 years.  In ( ) a survey on nearly 1200 I.T. experts in Banglore,Reported varying degree of C.R.I. severity.  55% developed C.R.I. just because of computer dependent careers.

 Force  Posture  Repetition  Low temperature  Contact points  Vibration

 Ergonomics are adopted so that it keeps one healthy, increases productivity and efficiency, maintains quality and boosts the general morale of the work force.

 Work Area Specifics  Ergonomic Desk Set Up  Ergonomic Chair  Computer Basics  Noise  Breaks and Exercise

 Work Area Specifics- Must be provided with large enough space to work and sit comfortably. Ergonomic Desk Set Up- It provide the right posture, prevent from R.S.I. and Carpel Tunnel Syndrome. Even maintain distance between eyes and monitor.

ERGONOMIC CHAIR- The height is an ideal parameter for every type of ergonomic chair. It balance the posture and sitting Condition of employee so it should be height adjustable.

 ERGONOMIC DESK-Availability of proper desk.  ERGONOMIC MONITOR-Distance should be inches to the setting and screen should not be very bright.  ERGONOMIC KEYBOARDS-Prevents from wrist as well as fingers pain and easy to work without strain.

SOME EXAMPLES-

 Yes, because-  It mitigate the threats expected to affect the employees  It provide more ease and comfort at work  It enhances the work efficiency of workplaces

“And now that you know why ergonomics in the workplace is important and how you should go about following it, march into your work place with a renewed sense of work ethics and regain that efficiency”
