Job Shadowing 2014 Friday, March 21, 2014

What is job shadowing? Students locate an adult to job shadow for a minimum of 6 hours on the date scheduled. Students can job shadow anyone, anywhere their parents/guardian approve. Permission must be obtained from the mentor’s superiors. Students should try to find a job that they are interested in learning more about.

Purpose of Job Shadowing The student will research a career that he/she is interested in pursuing or learning more about. The student will create a project that illustrates the career he/she chose and shadowed. The student will recognize the importance of educational preparation for a career.

How is the project graded? Four grades will be given for the project. – Attending the job site on the scheduled date for six hours or more = 100/counts as test grade – A career report using info obtained from your “on the job” experience and other resources such as MS Bridges, counts as test grade – Interview questions and time log completed/counts as test grade – Oral presentation to the class with a visual aid/counts as test grade

Guidelines Will Be Provided For : Career Report Interview Questions Time Log Oral Presentation And Posted on the Teacher Website.

You may earn extra points for “dressing the part” when presenting your oral presentation

What is a visual aid? Examples of visual aids are items that would be used on the job such as: – X-Ray – Hard hat – Assembly pieces – Report forms – Resource materials/books – Stethoscope – Tools – Gloves
