4 Job vs. College Sure, but here are the stats: 65% of all jobs require at least 6 months training 80% of all new jobs require post high school training The average person will change careers 5 times in their life Education opens doors Can you make a good living without college?

Take concurrent, AP, or early college classes Take 4 years of Math and English in High School (just because it’s enough to graduate doesn’t mean that’s all you should do!) Take a foreign language Study for and take the ACT

8 What can I do now to prepare? Get involved in extracurricular activities Start saving for college Hold a part time job Not too many hours, leave time for study, play, relaxation, interests & talents, etc! Volunteer/community service Job shadow/explore careers

9 What will you study? Start exploring careers and interests College has lots of ways to help you choose majors and careers Most people don’t know for sure what they will study when they start college

10 Hot careers Computers are always needed Health care related fields Education is up and coming! Engineers of all kinds are in demand Construction Automotive Managers Sales and business Social Services professionals

12 Get Into College Admission to college can be simple Application Application fee ($30 to $50) Transcripts (GPA + ACT) Some schools may also require: Interview Letter of recommendation Admission essay Selective, open enrollment, or somewhere in between
