Skeletal System By: Dan, Frank, and Tim

Location The skeletal system is located inside all of our bodies. It runs from the top of your head to the bottoms of your feet.

System role The role of the skeletal system is to hold the body up and together. It’s the attachment point for all of our muscles and tendons. Your skeleton also helps protect your internal organs and fragile body tissues. The brain, eyes, heart, lungs and spinal cord are all protected by your skeleton. Your cranium, which is your skull, protects your brain and eyes. The ribs protect your heart and lungs and your vertebrae (spine, backbones) protect your spinal cord.

Parts The skeleton system doesn’t have any organs, but it does have 206 bones. The 13 most major bones are: cranium clavicle ribs pelvis humerus radius ulna femur fibula tibia carpals tarsals phalanges

Main Functions and performance 1.We need our skeletal system for many reasons, one of which is to survive. The skeletal system is what keeps your body in shape, protects your vital organs, such as the heart, brain, and lungs, and enables you to move.

Things that can go wrong Fractures. These occur when a bone breaks. It may crack, snap, or shatter. After a bone fracture, new bone cells fill the gap and repair the break. If your bone brakes, applying a strong plaster cast, which keeps the bone in the correct position until it heals, is the usual treatment. If the fracture is complicated, metal pins and plates can be placed to better stabilize the fracture while the bone heals.

Ways to stay healthy A diet high in calcium rich foods like low-fat dairy products, nuts, seeds, green vegetables and essential fatty acids is very good for strong bones. Also taking regular exercise, either aerobic or strength resistance training is essential for strong bones. Continuing this pattern of healthy eating and exercise into your forties and fifties is particularly important for all women.

What would happen? Many things can go wrong if you don’t get check ups. There are many diseases you can develop. Some of them are: People cannot live without a skeletal system. It supports your body. Without it, you wouldn’t be able to move. Cancer Scoliosis Fractures Osgood-Schlater disease Osteochondroma Osteoporosis

Importance The human skeletal system is very important. is to hold the body up and together. It’s the attachment point for all of our muscles and tendons. Your skeleton also helps protect your internal organs and fragile body tissues. The brain, eyes, heart, lungs and spinal cord are all protected by your skeleton.
