 The main job of the skeletal system is to provide support or strength for our bodies. Without your skeleton your body would collapse. Your skeletal system/ skeleton also helps protect your organs and fragile body parts.

 The main tissues and organs in the skeletal system are bones (humerous), cartilage(meniscus), ligaments(anterior cruciate) and tendons(achilles, patella). Their purposes are to support and protect your body, to move your body, to balance your body, and to keep your blood in formation. Read about them on the next few pages!

 The main function of the humerous bone is to provide strength and mobility to the upper arm.

 The meniscus is a cartilage. It’s main function is to create cushion in the space around the knee or patella.

 The anterior cruciate is a ligament and it’s main function is to stabilize the knee while people are active.

 The achilles tendon’s main function is to allow the muscles of the leg to bend and stabilize the ankle joint, maintain balance while walking, running and jumping.

 The circulatory system feeds a network of blood vessels and nerves that help keep our bones alive, the nerves are from the nervous system. Skeletal muscles must be attached to something at either end to give them support while they move. This couldn’t happen without the skeletal system. Usually each end of a skeletal muscle is attached to a bone. If the skeletal system wasn’t in place, there would be nothing for the muscular system to attach to. In regards to the circulatory system, if the skeletal system wasn’t working the marrow inside of the bones wouldn’t be able to produce the red and white blood cells that make up your circulatory system.

 Common diseases of the skeletal system are, bursitis, arthritis, and osteoporosis. To keep healthy from these diseases/ disorders you should eat healthy, exercise regularly, stretch, and go to the doctors office once a year.

 Cracking your knuckles doesn’t cause arthritis, it causes skin damage.  Bones are stronger than aircraft metal.  The spine has 33 bones.  Your spine has bits of cartilage, which makes you flexible.  After a bone breaks there is no evidence that it will be stronger than it was before it was broken.

 The order of bones starting at the feet are, the metatarsals, tarsals, tibia and fibula (leg bone) than patella (knee cap) than your femur (thigh bone) than your sacrum (tail bone) than your pelvis (hip bones) than your vertebra (spine) than your ribs than your sternum (chest bone) than your clavicle (collar bone) than your scapula (shoulder blade) moving onto the arms you have your humerus (top half of your arm) than your radious and ulna (forearm) and than your hand which are your carpals, metacarpals and than your phalanges. Your head is made up of your mandible and cranium.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e54m6XOpRgU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e54m6XOpRgU

This is an example of a person with osteoporosis. When you get osteoporosis your bones start breaking down and you could end up looking like this lady. This is a picture of somebody with arthritis. When you get arthritis your bones usually start to swell with pain, turn red, grow stiff, and creates warmth in the joint. This is a picture of a person with bursitis. When you get this disease the most obvious symptom of this disease is pain. You usually get pain in your joints (shoulder, ankle, elbow.)
