How to Summarize a Short Story

Start your summary with a hook!

Your second sentence Your first sentence should include: 1. the title of the story 2. the author of the story 3. the main idea of the story

The next 6-9 sentences should include the supporting details. Your supporting details should include: 2-3 sentences that describe the exposition and rising action. 2-3 sentences that describe the climax 2-3 sentences that describe the falling action and resolution.

Your final sentence should repeat the main idea of the story and give your opinion about the story. Do not forget to give a reason why this is your opinion!
