TIMBERWOOD PANTHER TRACK WELCOME TO THE PANTHER 2012 TRACK SEASON COACH ZILEMBO 8 TH GRADE COACH DORNAK 7 TH GRADE

HUMBLE ATHLETIC POLICIES Each athlete have received a copy of the athletic policies. Please review them carefully. The main objective of the district is to provide competition between individuals and /or schools. It is to teach fair play, sportsmanship, the understanding and appreciation of teamwork, the teaching of discipline and that to quit means failure and hard work means eventual success.

HOW WILL WE DO THIS ? Keep as many pupils as possible in a good environment. Instill good habits, sound morals, exemplary citizenship, an a high standard of sportsmanship in the pupils of HISD. Encourage students to grow morally, socially, mentally, and physically.

TRY-OUTS Depending upon field events: All athletes that try out are considered part of the team. However, they are not guaranteed to participate in a meet. –Example: 8 throwers practice but only 3 can go to the meet. See individual coach for more details.

7 TH Grade Morning Practice Schedule Field Events Arrive for a.m. including Hurdles. Practice 7:00 a.m. 8:15a.m.. -8:30 a.m. If you are only doing running events regular school time.

8 TH GRADE TRACK PRACTICES All running events are held during the class period. Field events and hurdles are held after school until 5:00 p.m.

No Practice = No Meet Athletes are expected to practice EVERY DAY! Athletes are expected to dress in TMS Athletics outfits. Those athletes who consistently miss practice will not be taken to track meets. More than one absence per week will keep an athlete home from a meet. If you have questions, ask your head coach about this policy!

TUTORIALS The athlete will not be penalized for going to tutorials; however, tutorials are for the student to receive extra help on items not understood. Including homework. Tutorials are not to be abused and used to get out of practice. The athlete must have a tutoring pass from the Coach.

OTHER SCHOOL EVENTS/ACTIVITIES The sponsors of any other school event/activity, that conflicts with practice or a track meet, will contact the coaches. Athletes it is your responsibility to communicate this with the coach, in advance.

INJURIES All injuries must be reported as soon as they occur, practice or meet. Documentation must be provided by the trainer or doctor that you take your athlete to. If the doctor or trainer sit the athlete out then the doctor or trainer must release the athlete. If your athlete is injured in a sport or activity outside of their school sport, they must be seen by their personal physician.

Your student will be brought back to the school and can be picked up by your designated person.

OUTSIDE SPORTS Please remember that our school competition is top priority, during the season. Although we encourage and welcome outside competition, please know that you are a part of the TMS team and you have an obligation and responsibility to your teammates and coaches.

We do not have any to provide. If you want them then you will have to purchase them, but it is recommended you just use your shoes with laces that are secure.
