Production Solar Energy is produced from solar radiation. Sunlight reaches the surface and is captured so it can be turned into a useable energy source. Photovoltaic cells are used to convert the sun’s energy into electrical energy. These cells are non-mechanical devices that are made from silicon alloys. Once the cells are charged, the energy stored until it is ready to be used. Solar energy is also free and the supplies are unlimited.

Transported Solar energy is transported through food chains/webs in ecosystems, as part of an energy pyramid which has three main topic levels. Level 1: Autotrophs (plants) fix the energy from the sun during photosynthesis; the energy becomes part of the plant biomass Level 2: Herbivores consume the plants Level 3: Primary carnivores feed on herbivores, and are consumed by: ** Secondary carnivores

Use of Solar Energy People use solar energy to heat buildings and water and to generate electricity.
