Everyone invited! Most activities free! It’s almost here! in the grounds of St Mary’s Church, Church Road, Little Baddow CM3 4BE Little Baddow Churches’ celebration of the Centenary of the Chelmsford Diocese... Heartbeat Festival Weekend 27th to 29th June 2014 Lots going on for all ages, some active, some more restful, but all stimulating, thought provoking and fun! Have you collected your wooden heart shape yet to decorate for the Hearts Display and Competition on Saturday 28 th June? Entry is free and you can enter as an individual, a family or as a village organisation. Please do display your works of art on your door or meeting place in the weeks leading to the Festival so we can all enjoy them for as long as possible! After 1:00 p.m. on Saturday everyone will have an opportunity to vote by putting coins at the base of their favourites. The money raised will be donated to the British Heart Foundation. Lots of people and organisations have collected their wooden heart to decorate already. If you’d like to join in, please contact Charles ( , or Lynda ( , If you would like to come to the flower arranging workshop on Saturday afternoon or to buy a ticket for the Heartbeat party in the evening please sign up for them in advance if possible, by calling Lynda Ferguson on or Elizabeth Willington on Light refreshments available all day on Saturday - a chance to relax over a cup of coffee or tea. If the weather’s really dreadful over the weekend don’t worry – we have somewhere else to go where we can keep dry! Just come to the church and be redirected.

A Quarter peal rung by the St Mary’s bellringers at 7:00 p.m. will announce the start of the Festival. Heartbeat Festival 27 th to 29 th June Programme of Events 12:00 midday - Lunch : Bacon butties from the BBQ followed by strawberries and cream. Saturday lunchtime Saturday morning, 28 th June, starting at 10:00 a.m. Heartbeat Party! Bring your own picnic (including drinks) and join us for a summer’s evening of entertainment with The Chelmsford Community Gospel Choir, the Making Faces Comedy Group and some evening Jazz with Clapp Twice. Tickets £3 per person, children free. Saturday evening, starting 6:30 p.m. Another Quarter peal from the bellringers will welcome all to a wonderful Celebration Service at the tents, followed by a BBQ lunch with ice-cream van. Sunday 29 th June at 11:00 a.m. Messy Sports for all ages. Get physical and share in fun and games. Bring your teddy for a zip-wire trip from the tower! Saturday afternoon, starting 2:00 p.m. any questions to: Village Treasure hunt. Collect your instructions from St Mary’s and then enjoy a walk around the village while hunting for clues. Long and short walk options. Children’s Treasure hunt. Hunt for clues around the Churchyard. (Children will need to be accompanied by an adult). Art Workshop for adults and children over 11 years. Find your inner Picasso! Creativity in the big tent in paint and print. All materials will be provided. Bring an apron! Places will be limited so will be on a first come, first served basis. Drama workshop for all ages. Come to the small tent and explore some Heartbeat related themes, working in small groups with friends and neighbours. 1:00 p.m. Decorated Hearts Display and Competition. Bring your creations to St Mary’s Church by 12:45 p.m. Winners announced at the Heartbeat party in the evening. Friday evening 27 th June Flower Arranging demonstration and workshop on the Heartbeat theme. Come and learn about the ‘language of flowers’ while trying out techniques for beautiful floral creations. All materials will be provided. Places will be limited so please sign up in advance to be sure of taking part. (See overleaf for details). Church tours – find out about some of the history of St Mary’s on a guided tour of the church. See the bells and have a go (with instructor). Creative writing workshop and installation for all ages. An artist will lead writing sessions inspired by the Heartbeat theme. Writing will be displayed on beautiful acrylic shapes which will then be installed in the church to create a sculpture of light and colour. Saturday all day First Responders demonstrating resuscitation techniques Quiet tent for prayer and reflection Then at 8:00 p.m - Men! Come and kick off the weekend in the big tent with a ‘Question Time’ on some of today’s moral and ethical issues. Led by the ‘Pints of View’ group. Bar available. Come and put the world to rights over a pint!
