 Service learning gets students involved in community activities. It gives students the abilities to learn and develop through active participation in well organized services that are created and their goal is to help the needs of the community; it is generally created or partnered with an elementary school, high school, colleges, or community service program, and with the community

 Increase your understanding of your community and the needs it has  Gain hands-on experience (possibly leading to an internship or job later)  Grow your understanding of diverse cultures and communities  Learn more about social issues and their root causes  Improve your ability to handle issues and be open to change; become more flexible  Connect with professionals and community members who you will learn from  Grow a professional network of people you might connect with again later for jobs or internships

 Engages students in active learning that demonstrates the relevance and importance of academic work for their life experience and career choices.  Increases awareness of current societal issues as they relate to academic areas of interest.  Improves interpersonal skills that are increasingly viewed as important skills in achieving success in professional and personal spheres.  Develops civic responsibility through active community involvement.  Develop or enhance your skills, especially in the areas of communication, collaboration, and leadership  Test out your skills, interests, and values in a potential career path, or learn more about a field that interests you

 In This Picture some college friends and I spent the afternoon in the mud refereeing a event called Mud Bowl held annually at my church.

 Me and Eric taking a quick picture between helping out with the balloon race at St. John’s Field Day.

 Taking a picture and break from running in the rain for Relay for Life

 Helping out by putting up a new basketball goal and kids playhouse for a family member of our church.

 Carrying “Red” Dawson’s golf bag at the celebrity golf tournament for the football team.
