Stop Racism Caitlin Minney

Dear Leaders of the World, My name is Caitlin Minney and I am the creator of the worldwide charity, holding hands. I have created this presentation because I believe that governments can stop racism. I hope you are well informed by this presentation. Yours Sincerely Caitlin Minney

Contents 1. What is Racism 2.Research 3.In Leadership 4.Solutions 5.Within sport 6.Solutions 7.In general 8.Solutions

What is Racism Racism is a form of harmful discrimination. It is where one or more people put down others because of their race. Racism occurs In the classroom In the workplace On the street In homes In shops On the internet Parliaments All racism is harmful and therefore should be stopped.

Research Racism complaints are the second most common after disability complaints.

Research In America, over 40% of people surveyed saw African American education, income, life expectancy and prison levels as a major problem.

Racism In Leadership Australia has never has an indigenous Prime Minister. It took until 2008 for the USA to have their first African American president- Barak Obama

Solution More education and opportunities for indigenous people to be members of their government. This would mean providing the facilities in remote areas and the money so more indigenous people can learn politics. This would mean better welfare for Indigenous people if more are in governments.

Within Sport Sporting people are great role models for all generations. The way they behave is in the media. Racism- rather than being a problem within sport, is more a way that awareness can be provided to the wider community.

Solutions Sporting events highlighting the importance of equality Advertising- Sponsors wanting to stop discrimination or ads during sporting games Player involvement in anti- discrimination projects

In General Racism is also a huge problem in public Seen by children as the way things are and a problem too big to be fixed Although against the law, there are too many attacks in public Cyber racism is a problem within young internet users and is a form of cyber- bullying

Solutions Advertising- TV, Sport Banners, radio Education- Some people do not recognise racism and don’t know how to report it Special Events- Raise Awareness i.e. Holding Hands Largest loop of people holding hands

I hope this presentation has convinced you that more action is needed on racism. I also hope that the solutions provided help to end racism.
