Synthesis is fun!!

Debrief Synthesis TW Materials: 2 different colored highlighters a piece of notebook paper your favorite writing utensil *Pass back TW!

Synthesis Debrief 1. In one color highlighter: highlight the thesis in your intro paragraph, and the TS and CS of each body paragraph 2. In another color: highlight each piece of evidence included in your essay from the sources – including the citation! 3. On your notebook paper: write down the part of the prompt you were directly asked to respond to. Then write down your thesis statement, word for word.

Synthesis Debrief Cont. 4. With Ms. B.: review basic essay structure 5. With a peer: what do you notice about the structure and content of your Synthesis TW? Did your thesis answer the prompt and did your TS and CS support your thesis without being source-based? 6. By yourself: write a reflection on your notebook paper. a) What did you do well? b) What one or two things will you do differently during the exam? c) What is the outcome you expect from these adjustments?

“Do. Or do not. There is no try.” - Yoda (The Empire Strikes Back)

MC Practice Partner work – read the text, read the questions, work together to solve. As you solve – be metacognitive (think about your thinking!)
