Patient groups’ topics and structure: yearly review Lizzie Stimson 9 December 14

Objectives Aims of the meetings Recap of new support and contact details Patient chairing How we can improve and build upon the last year (discussion)

Aims of the meetings A broad group anyone can attend (rather than targeted insight) To look at Islington CCG commissioning, the wider healthcare economy including organisations we buy services from and health awareness raising To be as inclusive as possible, ensuring the format can meet as many people’s needs as possible.

New support for PPGs since Feb 14 One central phone line and address Directly ing next dates, agendas and minutes to all people who have signed up More general support to the groups Just developed guidance for PPG speakers More outreach to under represented groups to increase group attendance.

Patient Chairs Started the process of patient chairing Have Chairs for all three localities now Being supported by PPG officer At any stage if anyone is interested in chairing they can put their names forward If you have any comments on the meetings, speakers or Chairs please the PPG address.

What you have told us in the last year ‘Less agenda items’ Need a good balance between information giving and interactive ‘make sure its not all talking at!’ This still needs to be worked on in the meetings More presentations from health care providers in Islington More information from patients e.g. patient groups such as peer support groups Ensuring there is a proper place for feeding back on the information provided –New website in development which will have this as a key section.

Who hears what you say What you say goes to the PPP Committee, Directors and Clinical Leads Our partners We’ve improved our reporting so the entire meetings are properly captured. Hopefully, you talk with your social network This is something we are working on now to improve across engagement: Forward plan Website development.

Please contact and sign up PPG support Tel:

Discussion questions How can we build upon and improve the last year in the PPGs? What worked well this year in the PPGs What do you think could have been improved upon / did not work so well? Is there anything that you would like to see introduced? Would you like less agenda items? Please discuss: how many? What agenda items would you like? Is there anything we have covered you would like more information on?

Discussion questions Would you like some reading / information prior to meetings on NHS? Yes / No What would you like this on? Are there ways the new patient chairing could be improved? Would you be interested in taking back what we discuss to your practice / local community? Where would you take it? And how would you take it? Would you need any support and what would this be?
