Mentoring for international growth The Turin Chamber of commerce intends to launch a Mentoring program to encourage the exchange of managerial experience on international markets among professionals with Piedmontese roots (or graduated in Piedmont) and entrepreneurs based in Piedmont. The program intends to support the international growth of companies in Piedmont. We are looking for professionals with qualified international background willing to experience a new challenge as Mentors

Mentoring for international growth WHAT IS MENTORING A personal, voluntary and confidential relationship between a professional with a significant working experience (Mentor) and an entrepreneur (Mentee). The Mentor, based on its own field of experience, facilitates the professional development of the mentee. Values governing the relationship: trust, communication and transparency confidentiality no conflict of interest no commercial business relation and financial interest in the company based on mutual sharing of experience

Mentoring for international growth WHY MENTORING Mentoring is mainly about sharing of experience. In the program, the Mentor shares her/his experience, developed in years of international carrier in major companies, with the Mentee, who is motivated to improve his personal business skills in approaching international markets.

Qualify your professional experience, by improving your skills in international business support, with your engagement in a real case study 3. Gain visibility among the Italian business community as a qualified professional in your field of work 4. Contribute to the growth of a compelling international business culture among the business community in Piedmont 5. Share the merits of the international success of companies from your place of origin

Mentoring for international growth THE PROGRAM HAS BEEN INSPIRED BY THE LUXEMBOURG EXPERIENCE Managed by Business Support E.I.G. in Luxembourg (supported by the Chamber of commerce of Luxembourg) Since 2010: 40 Mentors, 50 Mentees Impact on the companies ed : 95% of the companies of the mentees are still in business staff have increased by 28% revenue increased by 29% 30 jobs have been created

Mentoring for international growth HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS 1. The mentor is an experienced professional with Piedmontese roots (or graduated in Piedmont) living abroad, member of the Network 2. The mentee is a CEO or holds key managerial position in a company based in Piedmont, interested in the international growth of the company 3. Both parties engage in the relationship on a voluntary basis and sign an agreement with ethical guidelines. They receive half-day training in Turin

Mentoring for international growth 4. The Mentoring lasts at least 8 months, 30 hours min. time commitment 5. The relation between mentor and mentee will be handled with distance communication technologies (e.g. skype). The kick off meeting will be held in Turin. Further one-to-one meeting can be agreed by the parties 6. The 2014 program features 4 mentors and 4 mentees 7. Candidates, both mentors and mentee, who will not find a suitable matching in this phase of the program, may choose to be considered for further editions

Mentoring for international growth WHAT MENTORING DOES NOT PROVIDE TO THE MENTEE consulting advice, market analysis or business plan direct introduction to potentially new business partners the right to continuation of the relationship at the end of the program reimbursement of travel expenses for meetings with the Mentor TO THE MENTOR a remuneration for the time dedicated

Mentoring for international growth WHO CAN APPLY AS MENTOR A professional who meets all the following criteria: 1. Piedmontese roots or graduated in a University in Piedmont 2. Permanently living and working abroad and member of the network (connected on Linkedin) 3. At least 10 years of working experience and 3 years of continuous international experience 4. Holding a managerial position in one of the following areas: Sales and business development Purchasing Product Development Research & Development

Mentoring for international growth SELECTION CRITERIA FOR THE MENTOR 1.The selection of the eligible candidates will be made by a Committee There will be no ranking, but a YES/No evaluation 2.The matching of the pairs will be finalized by the Committee, taking into consideration the preferences of both mentors and mentees 3.Candidates who will not find a suitable matching, in this phase of the program, may choose to be considered for further editions HOW TO APPLY AS MENTOR contact the Organizer fill in the application form before September 30

Improve your business approach to international markets, with an external, neutral, qualified and unbiased view of your company 3. Understand what is needed to enter a specific industry in a foreign market, thanks to the recommendations and advise of someone who operates in this industry

Mentoring for international growth WHO CAN APPLY AS MENTEE A professional who meets all the following criteria: 1. CEO or holding a key managerial position in a company or founder of an innovative start-up located in Piedmont 2. The company of the candidate is presently working on foreign markets or has a defined plan to work internationally in the short term 3. The candidate has a well-defined general idea of the issues to be shared and discussed with the mentor. Specific goals can be defined at the beginning of the relation 4. Fluent in English and/or in the mother language of the target country 5. The company has a website or marketing materials in English

Mentoring for international growth SELECTION CRITERIA FOR THE MENTEE 1.Upon applying to the Mentoring program, the mentee will have full access to the profiles of the eligible mentors 2.The candidate will suggest one or more profiles of preferred mentors 3.The matching of the mentor-mentee pairs will be finalized by the Committee, taking into consideration the preferences of both mentors and mentees 4.Candidates who will not find a suitable matching, in this phase of the program, may choose to be considered for further editions

Mentoring for international growth COMMITMENTS AND ETHICAL GUIDELINES 1. Mentor and mentee commit to dedicate to the program at least 30 hours of their time (8 months period) with distance communication and at least 1 meeting in Turin (frequency and timing of contacts shall be agreed by the parties) 2. Both parties commit not to engage in direct business relation during the 8 months-mentoring program 3. Mentor and mentee guarantee for the absence of conflict of interest in their relation, at the time of start of the program 4. The mentee commit to provide to the mentor a truthful, transparent and comprehensive description of the company

Mentoring for international growth 5. Mentor and mentee commit not to disclose to third parties any sensible information shared in their relation, unless explicitly agreed by the parties. Specific non disclosure clauses may be agreed by the parties 6. The mentor does not act as a professional consultant 7. Mentor and mentee commit to provide to the Organizer a feedback on the relation on a regular basis. 8. Both parties are free to terminate the relation, in case any serious disagreement should occur among the parties
