C OMMUNITY P SYCHOLOGY. Community psychology is a specialty area concerned with how individuals relate to society.

W HAT THEY FOCUS ON ? Community Psychology focuses on individuals in their social content, in order to prevent problems before they occur. Study's and help create social system that promote and foster individual. Promoting change in the social environment rather then the individual.

H OW THEY HELP PATIENTS ? Community Psychologist find ways to help disadvantaged or deprived individuals feel more connected with their local communities. They Building relationships between individuals and community groups. They develop implementing and evaluating action-oriented community-based programs.

P ROGRAMS F OR C OMMUNITY P SYCHOLOGY. There a some community psychology programs available. Some of the programs that an aspiring community psychologist includes: Social behavior programs Doctoral programs Community development programs Organizational development programs Public health programs Developing prevention programs

H OW IT ORIGINATED /B EGAN ? Community psychology began during the 1900s as a growing group of psychologists unsatisfied with the ability of clinical psychology to address broader social issues. In 1965, a meeting of psychologists at the Swampscott Conference was the official beginning of contemporary community psychology. At this meeting, they concluded that psychology needed to take a stronger focus on community and social change to address mental health and well-being.
