PROBLEM STATEMENT Speed  Minimize the amount of time in class needed to take attendance, goal is automation. Accuracy  Maximize the overall accuracy of the attendance method, needs to be as accurate if not more. Convenience  Minimize the interface between the instructor and the device before and after setup. Cost  Minimize cost needs to be kept low and affordable by a professor

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES Speed  Device sits in the front of class and scans student's blue-tooth devices to check attendance. Accuracy  To ensure accuracy, extensive testing will be done to correct and minimize errors. Convenience  Professor has a GUI and minimal choices in order to increase efficiency. Outputs to an Excel File. (.csv) Cost  Minimize hardware components, Raspberry Pi 35$ and the blue- tooth device 20$ will allow for a price point of around 60-70$.

SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE (PART I) USB 1  Connects to Bluetooth USB 2  Connects to Keyboard  Connects to Mouse HDMI  Connects to Monitor for Use SD Card  Contains class list and program files.

SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE (PART II)

SYSTEM DETAILS Used a combination of Python extensions to integrate the Bluetooth, UI, and backend Seen here is (half of) the code for implementing the UI Made use of wxPython, which is a port of wxWidgets from C++

USER INTERFACE Select Class File Opens to the selected documents Start Attendance Starts taking attendance Stop Attendance Stops attendance and leaves the program running Turn off Device Stops attendance closes the program and turns the device off

TECHNOLOGICAL ACCOMPLISHMENT Attendance is tied to the Bluetooth device which a faster and more convenient way to take attendance. Attendance is exported to a Excel.csv file to eliminate time consuming manual upkeep. Connect a variety of different technologies to make the tracking process simple and easy.

BUSINESS POTENTIAL Targeted to professors  Serial attendance of only a single class at a time  Easy interface for a verity of users Current Target market  Pedestrian count  Hospitals  Anyone that needs to know if someone is there or how many people have been at that location

FUTURE DEVELOPMENT Upgrade and additions for current market  Upload multiple class files  Include a time period for attendance (for security)  Include a time stamp to every Bluetooth ID that is collected Future Target market  Pedestrian count  Have a switch that can switch to count the number of Bluetooth devices that passing a certain location.  Hospital check  Check if doctors have washed their hands
