{ Shared Educational Entities and the Sending Scores Back Policy School Year

 A shared educational entity or “SEE” is an entity that serves students from multiple districts (NOT solely through Schools of Choice). SEEs serve students from neighboring districts to provide special services.  Being a SEE allows other districts to enroll students to the SEE building that doesn’t “belong” to their own district. This would otherwise NOT be allowed by the traditional district-school relationship in the Educational Entity Master (EEM). What is a Shared Educational Entity (SEE)?

 Policy mechanism created to attribute student scores to district-level accountability, rather than to a school building or program.  Created to help “good deed” schools and programs have some flexibility on how school accountability is distributed.  SEEs/S2E2s for reporting and accountability thus have special accountability rules applied for the Michigan School Accountability Scorecards. What is the “Sending Scores Back” policy?

 Alternative Education  Early/Middle College  Gifted & Talented  Special Education  “Other Types” “Good deed” School & Program Types Eligible to Apply for Sending Scores Back are:

1) SEEs for Student Reporting Only  Early/Middle Colleges that serve multiple districts and DO NOT apply for the Sending Scores Back Policy. 2) SEE for Student Reporting and Accountability  Entities that serve multiple districts and apply/are approved annually for the Sending Scores Back Policy. 3) S2E2s: “Shared Specialized Educational Entities”  Multiple classrooms (ISD or consortium-wide) programs that serve multiple districts and apply for the Sending Scores Back Policy.  These cannot be Early/Middle Colleges. What are the different types of Shared Educational Entities?

Early/Middle Colleges approved by the MDE Office of Career and Technical Education (OCTE) are SEEs for Student Reporting Only by default BUT scores will NOT be sent back to resident districts for these entities UNLESS they apply to be SEE for Student Reporting and Accountability with BAA Early/Middle Colleges

 Entity is a STANDALONE school!  Entity has building code SEEs S2E2s  Entity is NOT a school!  Entity has building code (not used for enrollment)

 “Shared Educational Entity”  A real, separate school that “stands alone” and does not serve a mix of SEE and non-SEE students  SEE students enroll in the SEE building, using the SEE building code  SEE students test at the SEE building  SEE building is an MME test center if 11 th /12 th graders are served “SEEs” A SEE is a School!

 Still receive student scores in SEE building and SEE district’s aggregate report and data files.  Still receive student PUBLIC grad rates for SEE building and parent district of SEE building.  SEE for reporting and accountability will not receive MI School Scorecard  Students enrolled in SEE building will contribute to their “resident district” MI District Scorecard calculations including the special “accountable graduation rate” utilized on the district scorecards. “SEEs” Approved for the Sending Scores Back Program A SEE is a School!

SEE Resident District Student Scores

 “SEE for Accountability” students are accountable at their RESIDENT DISTRICTS.  During scorecard (formerly AYP)) calculations, SEE for Accountability students are pulled out of their respective buildings and “sent back” to the district-level scorecard for where they are a resident of.  SEE students contribute to district scorecards for the RESIDENT DISTRICT of the student.  Since SEEs for Student Reporting and Accountability do not receive an accreditation grade, SPR40/90 and Assist/SA reports are not required for AdvancED  Since SEEs are schools, SIP and SDP/A reports are still required.  SEEs for Student Reporting Only must do all required AdvancEd reports as usual.
