Presentation transcript:

What should I do when I need help with math? Talk to us about getting extra help outside of class. The IRC math lab is also available during the school day for students to get extra help and/or work on homework.

What is the IRC? The IRC is a resource area with a math help desk, which is stationed by math teachers. Math help is available during the school day for students to get extra help and/or work on homework. Student may also work with other students in the IRC. Students may visit the IRC during their study hall.

How can I be more effective with math at home? Be sure to check homework answers by using the odd answers in the back of the book or the supplied even answers. If you have done a problem wrong, retry the problem. If you find yourself struggling, come in and get help from me or the IRC the next day.

How should I study for a math test? Do problems from examples in the book and old homework, as well as reading the book and through notes to prepare for tests. It is important that you actually rework the problem and not just look at it. Studying needs to be an active process. Be motivated to start reworking problems two days before the test so that if you run into questions you can ask them the next day at school.

What does it take to be successful in math? Successful students pay attention, take notes, ask questions, do homework, get help regularly, and study for tests by reworking old problems.

Extra Help Mrs. Geltner is available for extra help before school, periods 1 and 4, and after school by appointment. Mrs. Geltner is in the IRC 6th period; math teachers are available in the IRC all other periods of the day. Mr. Kelly is available for extra help before school, periods 3 and 4, and after school by appointment.
