Technology Class Rules/Expectations Ms. Wurtenberger

Computer Rules Treat your computer and its parts with respect. You do not want to have to replace broken pieces. Return all equipment in the state it was when you arrived. Chair pushed in, keyboards and mice in the correct place, headphones returned. Do not unplug your or others’ computers or any cords connecting to them!

General Rules Treat everyone with respect. This includes your peers and your teacher (that’s me!). Use your class time wisely and get your work finished on time. Be the help your classmates need, and ask for help when you need it. All assignments, will be submitted to my website – this is (almost) a paperless class!

When you enter the classroom… You may not enter or leave through the library. Wait on the RIGHT side of the classroom door (in a single file line) for previous class to leave before entering. Enter on time and without talking! The computer lab is a quiet place. Put your books, binders, etc. in the cubby and grab a keyboard cover. Login into the computer. Look on the board for today’s typing lessons. Go to the typing website on OMS website and get started on the proper lessons for the day. Type without talking.

Class Agenda Monday-Thursday: Typing (15-20 minutes) Recap of previous day (3 min.) New lesson (can be a PowerPoint that we do together, independent reading assignment, activity, etc.) (20-25 min.) Friday: Typing test Makeup/Retake typing tests **Agenda is always written on the board!

Restroom You may use the restroom during independent work time only – ask for permission. Direct instruction needs to be uninterrupted. **Limited bathroom passes will be given if you are abusing your restroom time.

Homework You will not need a computer to complete homework. I do not assign take-home work. However, you may need to spend free time finishing or making up work. I recommend a flash drive if you plan on transporting work between school and home.

Assignments You will be receiving four types of grades: In-Class Work, Participation, Typing Tests, Final Test. Participation grades are based on your time on task in class, as well as your behavior. If we engage in group projects, you will receive an individual grade. Typing Tests are out of 100, and are every Friday. Final Test is at the end of the quarter. It will cover everything we have done over the entire 9 weeks.

General Information Infinite Campus and Webmail is always challenging, especially if you have not been on them yet. We will talk about those sometime soon. Keyboarding is difficult for some students. Make sure you practice hard every day! There will be chances for you to makeup any typing test that you are not happy with. Always save to your U-Drive (we will talk about this).

Fun Day Friday As long as the class has been working hard all week, I do allow “Fun Day Fridays.” You can listen to music and play Minecraft or another game at the end of the class. This only happens after all necessary work is completed in the beginning of class. You can only have Fun Day Friday if you do not have any missing assignments and all work has been turned in.

My Website “First Assignment” Download and Save Re-Open – Can you do it? Submitting to my website Show, then do together.
