Introduction The Practical Training (BAC4614) program is a core subject introduced to students undertaking the Bachelor of Accounting (Honours) programme. The objectives is to provide student with practical working experience and able to gain from such practical experience. Student should be able to understand and discuss the application of accounting/ auditing/ taxation in the related areas.

Introduction The scope of practical training should be in the area of accounting, auditing, taxation, accounting information system, consulting and other accounting related fields. Practical Training period is for six (6) months from 1st March 2015 – 30 August 2015.

Student Log Book Guidelines Student must document their activities during the Practical Training to assess whether they have fulfilled the objectives and requirements of the Practical Training. The documents to record the activities of practical training is Student’s Practical Training Log Book.

Student Log Book Guidelines Student’s Practical Training Log Book is made up of seven (7) sections as follows: Section 1: Student and training details Section 2: Employer’s details Section 3: Details Description of Activity Report Section 4: Weekly Summary of Training Report Section 5: Student Evaluation Form Section 6: Employer Evaluation Form Section 7: Guidelines for Practical Training Report

Section 7: Guidelines for Practical Training Report

Weekly Report Section 3 & 4 of Practical Training Log Book Details Description of Activity report and Weekly Summary of Training report. Sample format & contents of the report depends on your supervisor. Complete week by week to documents the activities during practical training. Send these report to the respective supervisor. The frequency of submission either weekly or monthly depends on the supervisor.

Weekly Report Mode of submission depends on individual supervisors. Original copies of your weekly report (Section 3 & 4) must be signed by your employer and attach them as part of the appendices in your final report Weekly report submission & content will be part of the evaluation grades

Final Report Main content of the report Process flow of an audit, preparation of annual taxation, preparation of full set of account or the process flow of consulting works. Discuss the content of your report with your respective supervisors Include in your main report the various appendices of section 1 – 5 of the Practical Training Log Book

Employer’s Evaluation Form Section 6: Employer’s Evaluation Form Evaluation by the employer on the student practical training performance appraisal. Print a copy of “Employer’s Evaluation Form” for your employer to fill up, evaluation & provides marks before the visit date by your supervisor. After the form has been completed by employer, request to place the form in a sealed envelope and hand-over the form to your supervisor on the day of his/her visit.

Grading Scheme Practical training is graded based on: Final report = 50% Weekly report = 25% Employer’s evaluation = 25% Individual supervisors will evaluate the above reports for proper grading.

Assignment of Supervisors Student will be assigned to a supervisor. Please check the supervisor-student list that will be uploaded in the Practical Training website. Student has to register the subject BAC4614 – Industrial Training latest by 2nd week of Tri 3 2014/2015. For subsequent semester Tri 1 2015/2016, the system will auto register the subject.

Practical Training Visitation Towards the end of your practical training in August 2015, Supervisor will make an arrangement with student under their supervision regarding the day of their visit. Student are to arrange for a meeting between the supervisor and the employer. Prepare a location map of your work place for your supervisor prior to the visit.

General Terms and Conditions It is the students’ responsibility to strictly adhere to the terms and conditions of the Practical Training. The Faculty of Business reserves the right to terminate the students from the Practical Training Programme if the agreement is breached. Company’s Rules and Regulation Student are required to abide by the rules, regulation and policy of the organisation pertaining to the internships program

General Terms and Conditions Working Hours Student are required to follow the working hours as stated by the organisation. Please ensure punctuality. Attire Student are advise to wear proper office attire to work at all times. Discipline Student must be disciplined and abide the organisation rules and regulation at all times

General Terms and Conditions Leave Student are not allowed to take annual leave during the practical training period except for public holidays and holidays gazetted by State or Federal Government However, student must apply for leave other than the above (emergency case, death of an immediate family members, sick, etc) through their employer and must obtain approval from their MMU Supervisor. Leave will not be granted without valid reason.

General Terms and Conditions Work Orientation Student must be prepared to accept any assignments what so ever given by the company at all times. Place of works Student are not allowed to change place of work (organisation) during the practical training period.

General Terms and Conditions Attendance Student are required to obtain an overall of not less than 90% attendance of total working days specified by the course guidelines. Relationships Student must develop a good working relationship with their employer, supervisors, subordinates and colleagues at all times. Being the Ambassador of MMU

Reminder Training period: 1st March – 30th Aug, 2015. Report duty to respective employer: 1st March 2015 Final Report Submission due date: 11th September 2015 (before 5pm) – i.e two weeks after the last day of practical training
