Gathering Point of Sale can be an arduous process Hard to achieve standardization of data due to different distributor systems EDI is the common model but not all distributors are programmed to transmit it Have to pay for the EDI van fees Otherwise distributor must create custom file or you must modify received data Hard to place value on Point of Sale gathering Without proactive use it can be seen as data hoarding exercise Not seen as a value add process Timeliness can be a factor Many compensate distributors to transmit data No monitoring system to check on data status Data integrity is a big problem At the mercy of distributors manual data entry How do you deal with customers who have multiple accounts? How can you track national customers? Security concerns are ongoing Distributors very sensitive about POS integrity How can they be sure the data won’t fall into competitors hands? Compensation payments require accuracy Need to make the process work for sales force to buy in to POS payment structure

The idea behind the Jigsaw POS module Create a web environment to upload the data Shared hub for data upload between manufacturer and distributor Force standard process across all partners Replicate EDI standard templates or current manufacturer template Clean the records through the tool Identify and correct common catalog data entry errors Create common customer record Identify unknown customers upon submission Flag records that don’t match in advance Provide reporting on the POS customers Monitor distributor sales using POS Accessible to distributor and manufacturer sales staff Track lost sales, new customers and more Build profile on customers Capture their parent company (e.g. Ford, Chrysler) Define market segment Perform product gap analysis, engage in marketing and more
