ABSTRACT Exposed to various environmental elements such as criminally inclined people, harmful animals, and other creatures with inclination to molest others, any property, especially, expansive real property like thousand-hectares land , needs protection from any negative elements in the environment. An 8-feet fence made of concrete and steel to surround a wide territory completely is sufficient to protect the entire area of any industrial company. This proposal for enclosing the whole area with this kind of fence will give feelings of security, peace of mind, and sense of orderliness to every occupant of a plantation or of a manufacturing company.

ABSTRACT Sometimes, due to unreliable weather forecasts, students unexpectedly expose their extra-large design plates and painting materials to torrential rains. In some cases, these result in the destruction or spoilage of students’ very costly drawing materials right at the gate of the school, even before reaching their classrooms. Helping students protect their plates from getting wet during rainy season is the main concern of our proposal for constructing covered pathways on the school campus. Covered pathways are beneficial not only to students, but also to all people conscious of protecting themselves against the negative effects of rain and ultra-violate rays of the sun.

INTRODUCTION Problem This proposal is a technical report to explain the need to enclose the two-hectare DAYSL Malungay Plantation with concrete and steel fence. Since the establishment of this company 10 years ago, it has incurred a lot of property damages and stealing that would amount to millions of pesos. Worse, loss of lives and body injuries likewise resulted from the unsecured territory of the company. True, in its third year of operation, a bamboo fence gave the area some sort of security, but since bamboo is not as durable and lasting as steel, this very first fence of the company failed to provide the firm’s needed safety and security.

2. Purpose The main purpose of this paper is to propose a durable, lasting, and economical fence to protect the DAYLS Malungay Plantation from negative environmental elements. Stated in a question, the goal or main objective of this proposal report is: What kind of fence can give the best security or protection to the territory of the DAYLS Malungay Plantation.?

Likewise, it seeks to find answers to the following specific problems: 1. What’s the measurement of the steel to be used for the fence? 2. How tall will the fence be? 3. How many gates will the fence have? 4. How thick will the solid gate be? 5. What is the distance between two parallel horizontal steel between two posts?

3. Scope Included in this proposal are the details; that is, the preparations and activities to be done in relation to the following: 1. Purchasing materials 2. Designing the fence 3. Excavating or layout digging 4. Welding steel 5. Constructing posts of the fence 6. Applying anti-corrosion mixture 7. Painting the fence The steel fencing applies only to the entire Daffo Malunggay Plantation site in Novaliches, Quezon City. It doesn’t include its head office in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. With 10 to 15 well-qualified personnel, this proposed fencing job may be accomplished in six months in an approximate amount of ten million pesos.

INTRODUCTION 1. Problem This proposal is a written report about the construction of covered pathways on some specific areas of UST campus. Since the school was put up, it has had only two short covered pathways at the left and right sides of the main building. Unable to link the majority of UST colleges, these two existing covered pathways do not benefit many UST members, especially, these two colleges: Colleges of Architecture and Fine Arts. Ironically, these are the colleges with students who are required to work on activities needing broad, bulky, or spacious illustration materials. Worse, the library that houses reading materials and drawing spaces for these two colleges, is even farther than these existing covered pathways. As a result, the students often take the risk of exposing their plates and drawing materials to damaging ultra-violet rays of the sun as well as to rain-related diseases that will not only endanger their health but will also readily spoil or destroy their outputs.

2. Objectives The goal or main objective of this proposal is to construct covered walkways on UST areas where UST students generally pass through. Expressed in a question, it says, What kind of covered pathways should some UST areas have? It also aims at finding answers to the following specific questions:

What roofing materials are appropriate for the covered pathways? Which specific walkways will need thicker roofs? How high should the covered walkways be? How wide should the covered walkways be? What will be the sizes of steel to be used for the entire job?

3. Scope This proposal pertains only to the construction of covered pathways from the College of Architecture and Fine Arts up to all UST gates facing the Espana Avenue and Cataluna street. The construction will be based on a design prepared for them by another company. Designing of the fence therefore is not included in this proposal. This proposed project will more or less involve two million pesos and a three-month working period by 15 qualified men.

In-text citation 1) Spark plugs should be inspected or checked regularly. This could be done with the aid of a lighted magnifier conveniently mounted on a servicing facility. According to Mills (2007), this “ magnifier can be used to inspect each plug for cracked or chipped insulator barrels” (p.109).

2) Spark plug should be checked regularly 2) Spark plug should be checked regularly. Mills(2003) said that this instrument emitting light for enlarging things can detect whether or not cylindrically shaped materials to prevent the coming in and out of electricity are broken or cut.

3) Mills ( 2007) stated that spark plugs should be inspected regularly 3) Mills ( 2007) stated that spark plugs should be inspected regularly. “This can be done with the aid of a lighted magnifier conveniently mounted on a servicing facility.” This instrument emitting light for enlargement purposes can determine whether or not cylindrically shaped materials to prevent the coming in and out of electricity are broken or cut. (p.109)

4) The capacity of the servicing facility is approximately five-hundred spark plugs per day per operator. It is suited for commercial airline requirements and greatly reduces the amount of the floor space usually required for reconditioning. Also, economic advantages are realized by conveniently locating the reconditioning equipment in such a manner that all unnecessary handling is left to a minimum. ( Mills, 2007, pp.22-23)

5) The capacity of the servicing facility is approximately five-hundred spark plugs per day per operator. Mills (2006) explained (as cited in Bush et al., 2007) that it is well suited for commercial airline requirements and greatly reduces the amount of floor space usually required for reconditioning.

block quotation 6) The center and ground electrodes as well as the insulator tip are cleaned of lead and carbon formation. As Mills ( 2007) stated, The plug is first placed into an adapter which is designed specially to fit each type of plug to be cleaned. A foot pedal is then depressed which activates the blasting compound. When the foot pedal is depressed 1/3 of its travel, a blast of air is applied to the firing end for the purpose of cleaning away blasting compound remnants. (p.24)

2. WORK PLAN 2.1 Technical Description The proposed fence is made of the following materials: Steel Steel is a material made of “numerous alloys of iron and 0.1-1.5% carbon and with other metals such as chromium nickel or manganese.” (Reeves, 2006, p. 9) It can be cast, rolled, or drawn. If it is in its solid state,

It will appear hard, and strong, enough to serve as an excellent material for construction work, for cutting, and for wire cables. 2. Gate The gate is the passageway through the fence. It is made of broad and flat-surfaced wood, metal, or steel. Depending on the wish of a client, it comes in different sizes, shapes, and height. “Set upon hinges or pivots, a gate is capable of being opened or shut.” ( King, 2007, p.19) According to Lee ( 2008) once it is shut up, it will be enough to fill the opening or passageway

3) Post The post of the fence is a cylindrical structure in an upward position that is made up concrete and elongated steel to which a horizontal piece of steel in a fence is permanently attached. It is as high as the other vertical components of the fence. ( Walter, 2008) 4) Anti-corrosion mixture This mixture is a rust-killer to be coated around the steel to prevent the rust from corrosion. The specific anti-corrosion product to be used in this project is the Rust-killer Anti-Rust Primer I. This is an “ easy to use, single-pack rust stabilizer especially formulated “ to provide durable and effective protection of rusted steelwork. ( Rush, 2008, p. 18). The following is a technical description of this

anti-corrosion material: Product no anti-corrosion material: Product no.: 140-567867/5 liters Gloss level: Low sheen (20 liters) Color: light brown Volume solids: 43% Specific gravity: 1.28 lbs. ( 10.7%) Flash point: above 32% (90%) Storage: cool, dry, place at min. temp. of 10%C Delivery form: single container

5. CHB6 or concrete hollow blocks CHB or concrete hollow blocks are rectangularly formed objects made of sand and of an empty space in its middlemost part. Concrete materials are poured into this empty space to make several CHB stick together. Grugger (2007) claimed, Concrete is a hard substance made by mixing sand and gravel or crushed stones with cement and water, used as building and construction materials while still moist and allowed to set in. (p.5)

The 5-layer hardened CHBs will be the foundation of the 20mm The 5-layer hardened CHBs will be the foundation of the 20mm. steel that is vertically placed parallel to one another at a distance of two inches.

2.2 Work Process Guided by the SPECS for the project, the work will sequentially proceed in this manner: Purchasing materials Excavating or digging for the layout Preparing post formats Welding steel based on the prepared design or style

5. Setting the designed steel vertically in the hollow blocks 6 5. Setting the designed steel vertically in the hollow blocks 6. Pouring concrete into the hollow blocks into which the steel is positioned upward 7. Attaching solid gates to the fence 8. Applying anti-corrosion chemicals to the steel 9. Painting the fence
