What other 7 th graders want you to know about Spanish class OR Ways to succeed in their words

R-E-S-P-E-C-T If you respect your fellow classmates and your teacher, they will respect you back. You should listen and not talk when it is not your turn. Stay seated.

¡Escuchar! Listen. Listen during class

Participen…

Participate. Try to get your pesetas during warm-ups and “calendar work.” Get pesetas! Participate. You will get a peseta when you do and if you go over the amount needed, you can get some extra credit. Participate because it is a grade to bump up your grade if you participate a lot. Participate and most of all…..KEEP YOUR MOUTHS SHUT!!!!

Las Tareas Always do your homework. Bring your homework in on time. Do your homework and turn it in on time. Do your homework and try to keep up your grades. Always do your homework and warm-ups. Do all your work (especially ser). Do your homework. It will make the difference from an “A” to a “B.”

Sra. Mahar does joke around sometimes, but you need to quiet down afterward or she will get angry. Don’t test Sra. Mahar’s patience. She is a nice teacher, but if you push her to her limits, she will change and become mad. So one word of advice, stay on her good side. Don’t get her mad, but have fun. La profesora Mahar

NO HABLAR Don’t talk when you aren’t supposed to. DO NOT TALK! Never talk while anyone else is talking. Only talk to your group when you are certain that it is a good time to.

CONSECUENCIAS…. DON’T TALK DURING CLASS OR YOU WILL END UP IN ROWS!!! My recommendation is not to talk when Mrs. Mahar is talking or you will be put in rows like us! It was not fun.

Más consecuencias… Don’t talk during a test EVER! DO NOT talk during any test because you will get a 0, trust me, she’s not bluffing. Make sure you do not talk during a test or you will get a zero, or in Spanish cero. 0!!!!

Charts To learn the material better, Sra. Mahar will give you these foldable charts and they really help. Get your chart right! Make charts and flashcards and ask about Game Guroo. SingularPlural 1 st personYoNosotros/nosotras 2 nd personTúVosotros/vosotras 3 rd personÉl, ella, ustedEllos, ellas, ustedes

El internet Go on Game Guroo. Play online Spanish games to study

Los cuadernos If I were coming back, I would keep a cleaner binder. Keep your binders organized. Keep track of your study notes.

Other thoughts…. I was lucky and could absorb information by barely listening. Don’t do that!!! Find out your best form of studying and apply it. Hopefully you will be good at Spanish and have an ability to learn languages easily. Talk to your mom and dad if they took Spanish.

Getting good grades If you ever want to get a good grade, you should really study a lot. Believe it or not, it actually helps your grade if you do study!!

Study tips Test yourself on the material. Study the family members (which is hard). Study early for tests To pass Spanish you need to study at least 3 times a week. I also think that you should study, study, study hard for at least 10 minutes a night. When you study you should always bring home everything in your binder. You should study for at least 25 minutes. Ask someone to quiz you before you go do something else. Don’t only study on the night of the test. A week before every test, study for at last 5-10 minutes (a day).

Study for all the tests because they are very hard if you don’t. Study a lot and remember Spanish isn’t like inglés, I mean English because you say things like the father of Jack is Jack and not Jack’s father is Jack. Study very, very hard. At first I wasn’t doing well, but now I am up to a “B” and that’s all just from studying. This class is harder than your cores so you should study. Always try your best, some credit is better than none. Study!! For studying, use flash cards and websites with Spanish games. Study until you know it. Sometimes 20 minutes won’t work. Study every week because it will be getting a lot harder in the future. Study, study, study and pay attention. Study, STUDY!!

Presten atención Always listen. If you talk while she is, you will end up doing worksheets instead of doing fun stuff. Pay attention in class! Pay attention and listen. Mostly everything is important. Focus and pay attention. Pay attention.

Silencio… Make sure you pay attention because if you miss one thing, you could not understand the whole concept. In order to learn the material, you must listen to Mrs. Mahar and try hard to understand. Once you have learned some of the shorter words like el, si, mi, you can kind of sound them out in your head. Spanish is a fun language, so paying attention now can help you now and in the future. Pay attention—stuff’s not easy. Pay attention during class and take notes when needed.

¿Comprendes? The class is fun but can be frustrating if you don’t understand it. Sra. Mahar will answer most of the questions you have, so just ask. Ask a lot of questions if you don’t understand what you are learning. Don’t be afraid to ask. If you don’t understand something, ask questions. Ask questions.

Final thoughts Spanish will get tougher as time goes on. It is necessary to always try your best in order to get a good grade. It is necessary to participate, study, complete all your work, and pay attention in class in order to get good grades.

Have fun and everyone will too! Have fun! You will have a great time. She is a very nice teacher. It is very fun to learn Spanish. But you should have to study a lot.
