Crowding Out MODULE TWO How Clean Is Your House? "Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.” William Morris I think this is a brilliant quote to remind us to appreciate everything we have and to own nothing that we don’t. I interpret the word ‘house’ in not just the literal meaning of the word, but also the metaphysical context such as your life and everything in it. All of it, your career, your relationships, your living environment, your financial situation – it all comes under your ‘house’ and it’s your job to keep it tidy and in order. If you don’t like something, then change it. Now that you have created your SuperSelf vision, created a vision board to keep up momentum and inspire you to take action, highlighted your beliefs that are running the show and connected you to stillness, it’s time to make space. Emotional, physical and mental space. I don’t know about you but I always feel better when I have a clear out and more often that not, the Universe finds a way to fill it with wondrous things. Ye Olde Tale I want to tell you a story about someone that I know who I’ll call Jack. Jack had been a maths teacher for a number of years. He loved the kids and he had a great job but his all time dream job was designing rollercoasters! I have no idea where you would go to learn about how to do that and neither did he so he had absolutely zilch experience. But when a friend of his turned round and said “Look, you’ve been talking about designing rollercoasters for years – when are you just gonna do it?”

Crowding Out MODULE TWO Ye Olde Tale cont.. This really gave Jack a compassionate slap in the face and reminded him that now is the only time to go after your dreams. So, he had a chat with the headteacher and explained that while he loved teaching, his real passion was rollercoasters. The headmaster explained that they too loved rollercoasters and that Jack should go after his dream job. So, he designed the most amazing cv in the style of a theme park and sent it off to rollercoaster designers based in the Netherlands. A few weeks later, he received a letter along with his cv saying that they were unable to look at it incase they were to design something in the future that was similar and they got sued. Jack was disappointed to say the least, but then they said, ‘…but we would love to meet you for an interview as you’ve clearly got passion and an awesome imagination so come on over!’ So, Jack went over to meet the executives and after 3 interviews, was offered the job to join the only other 2 rollercoaster designers in the company, despite having no experience of designing them! He just made up for it with enthusiasm and brilliant ideas. And now Jack is moving to the Netherlands to work in his dream job. So, the morale of this story is that when you are super clear with the Universe and you put out a clear intention of what you want, the Universe can deliver it to you. The Universe abhors a vacuum so as you make space on all levels and remain open to whatever comes (with no limitations) you will find that other wonderful things will begin to fill it. So to help you make space, carry out the following exercises.

Crowding Out MODULE TWO Ten Tiny Changes This exercise is designed to help you highlight things that are bugging you, draining your energy and keeping you stuck. List 10 changes you would like to make for yourself. A few of mine are; sort out my sock and tights drawer, file my paperwork, fix my pin board to the wall, put some stuff on ebay, sort through my clothes and donate to charity. List yours here; I would like to… Now choose one of these things to achieve this week and yes you can totally start with the smallest and the easiest thing! This is all about being kind to yourself after all!

Crowding Out MODULE TWO Change A Habit Let’s take a look at your habits. We often have odd and sometimes self-destructive habits that become a way of life which no longer serve us. It’s time to shine a light and get honest! List below 5 of your worst habits. This maybe aimlessly flicking through the channels on tv watching it out of boredom? Do you smoke? Drink too much booze? Overeat? Never finding time to exercise? Not making meditation a priority? Hanging out with people who dampen your dreams? My worst habits are: Can you identify what ‘payoffs’ you get from continuing these bad habits?

Crowding Out MODULE TWO Best Behaviour The benefit of getting really honest with yourself and completing these exercises, shows you where you might be leaking energy or what or who in particular is draining it from you. Then, and only then can you change it. This is what I call ‘crowding out’. This week I want you to start to notice and be mindful of what you are doing, when you are doing it and why you are doing it. If it’s not serving you, don’t do it. What else could you be doing that would be more beneficial to your mind, body and soul. Revisit module 1.2 and see if there is anything from your ‘Child’s Play’ exercise that you can do instead. TASK
