1 But what about sometimes when we ask God for help and nothing seems to change? Write down a time when you have asked God to help and he hasn’t? Well, the Bible is a real honest book In Psalm 69:3 it says ”I am worn out from crying, and my throat is dry. I have waited for you till my eyes are blurred.” The Bible says that God will help. But in this part of the Bible, it talks about how some times he doesn’t SEEM to help. God wants you to know that 1.He will help 2.But it might not be WHEN we expect it 3.And it might not be HOW we expect it 4.But he WILL help And God wants to HEAL you. All your past hurts, he wants to take them and heal you. This may take a short while, it may take a long while but he wants to heal you. The first thing you can do to be healed is ask God to help. Then ask him into your heart (become a christian) and forgive you for all your sin. Then you can maybe talk to someone you trust (a Max leader) about your past and together you can let God deal with it. Go round in a circle and say how your week has been and then pray for each others past. Pray that you and your group will let God heal you of things that have happened in the past. 2 Sometimes we do something wrong and that hurts us. But what about when people have done things that have hurt us? Maybe when someone embarrassed us. Or Mum and Dad split. Or someone in our family has done stuff they shouldn’t. That sort of stuff just plain hurts! As Max leaders, we want to say to you that we really care about you and we care about things that have hurt you. We want to help you in any way we can to get through that. That means that if you want to talk about anything, great! If you want us to help you or pray for you, we’d love to do that. We can offer you help because we know where the greatest source of help comes from! No matter what you are going through __ __ __ (ODG-unscramble the letters) can help you! CIRCLE THE VERSE THAT IS MOST HELPFUL TO YOU Psalm 28:7 (the Bible) says “You are my strong shield, and I trust you completely. You have helped me, and I will celebrate…!” God is someone we can trust and he wants to help you! Duet 33:29 says “The Lord has rescued you and given you more blessings” God wants to rescue you from your trouble. Psalm 40:17 says “Lord God, you care about me, and you come to my rescue. Please hurry and help.” This is something that you can pray and ask God. Isaiah 41:10 says “Don’t be afraid. I am with you. Don’t tremble with fear. I am your God. I will make you strong” God can help with us with our fears. John 14:16 says: “Then I will ask the Father to send you the Holy Spirit who will help you and always be with you.”. God’s power (his Holy Spirit) is inside you if you are a christian. It’s funny thinking what people used to wear in 1970! Check out that dress that Khris is wearing for a start! It’s funny looking back on our own lives too! Think about something funny that happened to you when you were a kid. Draw it here. But as well as all that peace, love and happiness stuff in our past, sometimes there is the stuff that really hurts too! Sometimes it is people that hurt us – sometimes even the people that are supposed to care for us the most. Sometimes it is family, sometimes it is mates. It is sometimes on purpose or sometimes by accident that we end up hurt. It might be physical hurt, or it might be that our emotions are hurt. Sometimes it might be situations that have really embarrassed us and we feel shame. If nothing too much comes to mind when we talk about this stuff, good! You are real blessed! Don’t be ashamed of that! That is awesome! But if stuff does come to mind, it is probably stuff that you will have to deal with at some stage. We are all real good at being tough and carrying on as if nothing has hurt us! But we usually know that it is still there and eating away at us a bit. Draw a picture of how you feel when you think about what has happened to you in life. The question is now is what do you want to do about this stuff?
