Computer Science Computer programming/coding An algorithm is a set of instructions for solving a problem. When the instructions are followed, it must eventually stop with an answer.

Year 1 Computer Science Understand what algorithms are Create simple programs Input a series of commands in order to move the robot around a maze. Create their own simple computer game by dragging in arrows as commands.

Year 2 Computer Science Understand that algorithms are implemented as programs on digital devices Understand that programs execute by following precise and unambiguous instructions Debug simple programs Use logical reasoning to predict the behaviour of own programs Use logical reasoning to predict the behaviour of others’ programs Create games and animations by dragging in commands, spotting and correcting any errors in the sequence of commands chosen.

Let’s Try Some Computer Science

Computer Science Apps Beebot Cato's Hike Turtle Daisy the Dino Kodable

Cross-curricular Computing Storytelling e.g. Puppet Pals Developing verbal communication and reasoning e.g. using Explain Everything Labeling e.g. using Skitch Making presentations e.g. Powerpoint Editing photos in art e.g. using Photo Booth or Pic Collage

e-Safety We have a curriculum especially for e-Safety Staying safe online is taught in stand-alone lessons and reinforced continuously in lessons where appropriate and as needed Children are taught to: Keep personal information private Identify where to go for help and support when they have concerns about content or contact on the internet or other online technologies

e-Safety We have a designated e-Safety page on our school website with lots of links and information packs to help you keep your child safe online You can also visit: There will be a parent workshop specifically for e-Safety on November 20th.
