Solutions to Real World Problems Answers to Complex Questions Engineering Technology Mathematics Other Disciplines Science STEM Standard of Practice 2 - Apply integrated science, technology, engineering, and mathematics content to develop solutions to problems or construct answers to complex questions. Solutions to Real World Problems or Answers to Complex Questions

Example A student analyzes the relationship between the rise of Impressionist movement and the development of the scientific understanding of the nature of light. STEM Standard of Practice 2 -Analyze interdisciplinary connections that exist within science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines and other disciplines.

Example Students study the Sistine Chapel. In this study, students seek answers to the complex questions - “How were the frescoes in the Sistine Chapel restored? How are the frescos currently maintained?” Students analyze the chemistry of paints, the effects of detergents on the paint, arguments surrounding the restoration program, the anatomy of figures in paintings, the architecture of the Chapel, and the history of the Renaissance. STEM Standard of Practice 2 -Analyze interdisciplinary connections that exist within science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines and other disciplines.

Mathematics Vocabulary Integer Parallelogram Science Vocabulary Heterogeneous Macromolecules Engineering Vocabulary Prototype Problem Statement STEM Standard of Practice 3 – Apply appropriate domain-specific vocabulary when communicating science, technology, engineering, and mathematics content.
