WHAT SILVACARBON SEEKS FROM THE GFOI: Promote increased use of GFOI’s existing online platform for outlining capacity building needs that have been identified by developing country partners, and better utilize this platform to provide details on which GFOI partners are supporting each need and to demonstrate which needs are under-supported. Still pending Active involvement in the SilvaCarbon capacity building plan by providing scientist support in capacity building. There would be a further capacity building meeting for strategic planning with other capacity building programs (GOFC GOLF, FAO, WB). We will cross reference the upcoming capacity building plans per region to coordinate leverage and funding. Provide a support plan for countries to actively participate at GFOI forums. Coordinate support with SilvaCarbon, FAO and WB. Still pending. We need to discuss further with the GFOI office and partners the support for including the countries in the GFOI forums.

WHAT SILVACARBON SEEKS FROM THE GFOI: Build some degree of international consensus on effective approaches, tools, or methodologies for establishing MRV systems. The second version of the MGD will be incorporating recommendation and advise concerning MRV systems. More material on reference levels will help the countries to incorporate information generated by NFMS into reference levels. Promote awareness of GFOI and SilvaCarbon activities among the international MRV community, possibly through increased publicity of the online capacity building platform and/or online GFOI planning calendar. We still need to follow up on the updating of the GFOI website and calendar. However the MGD portal will be a good tool to support capacity building

WHAT SILVACARBON SEEKS FROM THE GFOI: Engage commercial providers in the distribution of high resolution (HR) data for GFOI developing country partners who need to test operational systems that will depend on HR data for “hot spots” monitoring and selective areas. Continuing provision of space data needs via SDCG and CEOS. The SDCG group will facilitate the coordination with the commercial providers for support to the SilvaCarbon countries with HR data. SilvaCarbon will make a document with all HR data required to continues monitoring. SilvaCarbon will work with the countries to identified their sampling design for select the sites to be assess. Continuing support for CEOS to provide core datasets according with the country data needs Continuing support from CEOS on the use of Cove tool through capacity building workshops Possible collaboration in Cambodia for capacity building in the Mekong Delta Area with support of the Canadian Space Agency
