New VTCT Product Coding First letter ‘A’ indicates a full qualification. ‘U’ indicates a unit. ‘W’ indicates a Welsh only qualification (e.g. Essential Skills Wales) Second letter ‘B’ indicates the qualification belongs to the beauty or nail suite ‘H’ indicates a hairdressing qualification ‘C’ indicates a complementary therapy qualification ‘F’ indicates a sport and active leisure qualification ‘G’ indicates a business support qualification ‘S’ indicates a Scottish only qualification ‘M’ indicates a cross sector qualification (e.g. Level 2 Diploma in Hair and Beauty) ‘N’ (with a U) indicates a new hairdressing NVQ unit First number This indicates the level of the qualification or unit Final four numbers These are random like the old D codes. E.g. AB30134 is a full level 3 qualification from our beauty therapy suite
