Final 5 PDs  Histronic PD  Narcissistic PD  Avoidant PD  Dependent PD  Obsessive-Compulsive PD

Histronic  Excessive emotionality and attention seeking  Overly concerned about looks  Overly sensitive to criticism  *MUST* be the center of attention 

Narcissistic  Grandiosity  Need for admiration  Lack of empathy  Can get very defensive if feel threatened

Avoidant  Social inhibition  Feelings of inadequacy  Hypersensitivity to negative evaluation

Dependent  Submissive and clining behavior  Excess need to be taken care of  ALL Decisions made for them 

Obsessive Compulsive PD  Preoccupation with orderliness, perfectionism and control  Interferes with task completion 

Role Play Assignment  You will be acting as someone with a personality disorder to the rest of your group  They will have to guess what personality disorder you have  Due at the end of class – write on a separate sheet of paper

Part One: 10 minutes  Write your scripts  This will be approx. ½-¾ of a page long  It can talk about anything you’d like, but if you need a starting point, you can write about…  Interactions with someone in a coffee shop  A fight they had with their significant other  A time where they had a big project to complete

Part Two: 10 minutes  Read your scripts to your group  Group members: Write down symptoms and tendencies that you see  Use these tendencies to ‘diagnose’ the PD  You may ask questions to your patients
