National Core Content (England) Biomed Central Membership –available to NHS in England from April 1 st 2003 –allows authors to publish to the Biomed collection of freely available peer reviewed journals –allows the NHS to establish its own journal titles at no additional cost –can be accessed from any location using Athens access system –a start on freeing up the literature

National activity Main Forum meeting 4 June NHS and JISC - Health Knowledge Infrastructure National Knowledge Service (NKS) UK Library Service Development Group Others - CHILL, Peoples Network etc Library and Knowledge Development Network talking, sharing, building

NHS/HE Forum focus on IT connectivity met 4 times pilot projects disseminate information re connectivity solutions JISC and NHS funding

NHS/HE Forum Library issues subgroup NHS and HE representation NHS LA; Core Content Group;LKDN; Wales;Scotland;N Ireland HE CURL; JISC;SCONUL ACHS met Jan, Apr, June focus on funding and content task and finish group commission and fund issues report

Users First scoping study –funded by NHS, SCONUL, JISC,LLIDU capture issues and barriers alert main Forum to these propose solutions initiate pilots lead to real change

Users First methodology –commissioning brief –desk research, interviews –consultation and revision –discussed at Library Forum –Final draft April/May –NHS/HE Forum 4 June –Librarians Group 6 June
